When I woke up Josh was in the kitchen. He decided he'd cook me breakfast to make up for last night, even though it was my fault and not his.
I shouldn't cling on to him like this. He'll really know something's wrong then. I don't feel right hiding things like this from him, but this is for his own good. For the good of our relationship, really.
At 8:00 when I'd have to tell whoever my decision, I'd tell them I will agree to whatever whenever, as long as my relationship remains safe. As long as Josh isn't hurt. He's the only thing I have, and I can't lose him. I love him.
I was still in bed when I heard Josh walking down the hallway towards the bedroom. "Melody Jean Lansford, I made your favorite." Josh can through the door with a huge smile on his face, and a plate with blueberry pancakes.
"Josh Dillion Brice, you are the sweetest." I returned a smile, and took the plate he handed me as I pecked his lips.
"Do you want to eat on the couch, or in bed princess?"
"I don't mind, wherever is good with me, babe."
Josh then picked me up bridal style and carried my plate and I into the living room.
We laid on the couch, and I ate my delicious pancakes.
"Since we're both off today, I thought maybe you could spend the night again baby?" As much as I wanted to stay in the comfort of the boy I loved, I couldn't. I didn't know if unknown would want me to do anything tonight or not.
"That offer is so appealing Josh, but I don't know." The look on his face said disappointed.
"Okay, maybe we can just hang out here today then?"
"Only if I can cuddle on the couch with my boy." I smiled at him.
He took my empty plate from me, and set it on the coffee table.
"You might just be in luck then Melody Jean." He kissed my neck, down to my collarbone. He started to take my shirt off, and then the doorbell rang.
Josh quickly jumped up to see who it was, and Kevin walked through the door. Damn it.
Josh's best friend, Kevin Rodriguez, has always had bad timing.
"Josh I got tickets to the new speedway tonight. Oh hey Melody! Sorry to interrupt.." He voice trailed off, and I knew he was embarrassed.
"I can't Kev-"
"No, don't let our plans get in the way Josh. Go with Kevin tonight, and I'll spend the night tomorrow." In a way I think Kevin just saved me.
"Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden Melody." Kevin clearly felt bad.
"I'm sure." I laughed, because Kevin treated me more like Josh's mom instead of girlfriend.
"What time will we be leaving?" You could tell that Josh was excited about going to the races.
"Here in about an hour." Kevin's answer meant that I'd be going back to my apartment soon.
I walked back to Josh's room. My phone was still in the nightstand. The digital clock on the screen read 11:30am.
I started to walk out when I heard my phone go off.
Unknown:
Tick, tock, tick, tock. Times running out Melody. I hope you've made up your mind.Me:
I have actually, and I'm not giving you an answer until you tell me who this is.Unknown:
You know me Melody.Me:
Who the fuck are you!!Unknown:
Think about 2 summers ago. What had happened two summers ago? I refused to text back till I had this fucked up puzzle figured out.
I remember the party Josh threw for our one year.
Me:
Were you at the party Josh threw?Unknown:
Yes.Think Melody, think. What happened at that party.
I looked up from my phone to see Josh standing in the doorway.
"Hey babe, Kevin left." Josh had taken a shower and gotten ready. How much time had I spent trying to figure this out?
"Josh, do you remember our one year anniversary party?"
He laughed for a few minuets, and then said "Of course I do babe. It was the worst party I've ever hosted. It was also the first time you got drunk." All the memories flooded back.
Me on the pool table, skinny dipping, and James Scott-
That's it! That's him, it had to be.
Me:
James, why are you blackmailing me.Unknown:
Shit!Me:
Now, what dirt do you think you have on me?James:
It doesn't matter, Melody! Do what I say or Josh finds out! Do you really want take that chance Honey? He was right, I didn't want to take the chance of anything coming between Josh and I. He was my whole life! I loved him with all my heart.
Me:
I'll do whatever you want. I agree.
