Melody:
My parents have always been fond of Josh. He was my first real boyfriend in high school. I wasn't allowed to date till I was sixteen, and he waited two days after my sweet sixteen to ask me out. He and my dad both shared similar interests: knifes, outdoors, and of course the hunting channel. Since we lived in the middle of Kansas City my father would drive quiet a ways to hunt, and on some of those trips he took Josh. I loved how they bonded so quickly.
It warmed my heart to see them do that again. For the past two days I wake up to my dad and Josh watching the hunting channel. My mom and I make breakfast, and clean house. It wasn't much of a vacation, more like returning from one. Being with my parents made me feel at home, even though we weren't at the house I was raised in. This made me realize that home isn't just a house - It's a family.
My moms been harping at Josh to take me out all weekend, but he knows that I want to spend every possible second I can with them while we're here. Come Monday it'll just be endless FaceTime calls, and I won't be able to hug or kiss them for awhile. I mean Josh is our only source of income at the moment an he doesn't make a whole lot. Nevertheless my mom wouldn't give up until she got her way.
"There's this really nice restaurant on the strip. Take my card, and treat yourselves. Please Melody?"
"I'm fine here, with your cooking," I walked out of the room, and headed upstairs.
"Honey, lay off. If she doesn't want to go then she doesn't have too," my dad was always understanding when it came to me. I was an only child so he tended to give me what I wanted, and right now that was space.
"Mel," Josh walked into the room. He'd just got out of the shower and was wearing only a towel, "Why'd your mom hand me her credit card?"
I took the card from his hand, "Because we're going out, but we aren't using her money," I placed the card on the dresser and grabbed a pair of skinny jeans and a black v-neck.
"Vans or Converse," I held up the choices for my boyfriend to pick.
"Eh? Vans?" He ran his fingers through his wet hair, "I don't know babe, what ever you think looks better."
"Vans," I pecked his lips and started to put my shoes on, "Way are you wearing baby?"
"I figured you would want to pick," he sat down on the bed next to me with the light blue towel still around his waist.
"You know me so well," I laughed and kissed his jawline before walking over to his suitcase, "Will you wear the cologne I got you from Rue21?"
"Anything for you," he laughed and put on the clothes I'd just threw at him.
I walked down stairs to get the keys from my mom while Josh was getting ready. She willingly gave them to me, and was very surprised by my sudden change of heart.
I figured tonight would be the perfect time to tell Josh I wanted to permanently move down here. I was even willing to find a job, and get over this depressive state I've been in for several months now.
Josh came down the stairs not even five minutes later looking hot as ever. I threw him the keys and walked out the front door.
I climbed in the passenger seat of my parents Range Rover, and Josh got in the drivers side.
"Damn baby you can clean up," I leaned over and kissed his lips.
"I'm so nervous to drive this," he started the car with shaky hands and pulled out.
We found a fairly nice place to eat, and walked around the strip for awhile. Josh made the night so much fun, and I never regretted leaving the house. It was till we got back in the car that I was nervous about telling him my decision. His parents were still in KC so I didn't know how he'd feel about leaving them, granted he wasn't as close to them.
"Where to know Mel? Home?" He placed a hand on top of mine.
"Actually that's get a hotel room. Maybe?" We hang had sex at all this weekend, so he probably thought that's what the room would be used for. Honestly I just wanted to tell him my decision alone, and my parents didn't really understand privacy.
"Perfect," he leaned over and kissed my neck before pulling off.
