The next few days of after-school suspension were horrible, but at least she got extra work done. The isolation in the quiet classroom felt suffocating, yet it provided a rare opportunity to catch up on assignments. She spent hours hunched over her textbooks, the silence occasionally broken by the distant echoes of laughter and chatter from the schoolyard.
Her parents were not happy and demanded that she come home directly after school every day for the next few months. Their disappointment was palpable; every conversation was laced with a silent, simmering anger. She wasn't even allowed to see Faith, which felt like a punishment in itself. Her mother's stern eyes followed her every move, while her father's rare but pointed words left her feeling more isolated than ever.
Thankfully, Mr. Anderson—Nathan—secured a deal to get her out of detention early. The arrangement was precarious and had to be kept secret. Her parents thought she was still at detention, which provided her a precious window of freedom.

Jacqueline ran toward the spot Nathan had arranged for them to meet. It was by a surprisingly empty lake, a beautiful spot for a picnic. As she got closer, she saw a beige quilted blanket on the green grass, with a basket full of snacks and drinks waiting for them.
Nathan welcomed her with open arms as she leapt into his embrace. His hands gripped her ass for support as she tightly squeezed him, showering him with kisses. "I missed you, Jackie," he murmured.
Out of breath, Jackie whispered back, "I missed you so much more, Nathan. Thank you so much for talking to Principal Reynolds."
Nathan gave her one final kiss before gently setting her down. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and his hands remained firmly on her hips. "Anything for time with my girl," he said with a smile.
Jacqueline giggled as they sat down on the comfortable blanket. Nathan gave her a tour of the food, snacks, and drinks he had brought, proudly displaying a selection of sandwiches, fresh fruit, and even a small bottle of wine. The sun cast a golden glow over the lake, making the water sparkle. They clinked their glasses together, the soft clink echoing in the tranquil setting, and began to relax.
"Mmm," Jacqueline said mid-mouthful, "where is this sandwich from? Because, holy shit, it's good."
Nathan laughed, feeling flattered. "I made it myself. It's my own recipe for a chicken sandwich, but I didn't think it was that good."
Jacqueline moaned, laying down and waving the sandwich in the air. "It's sex, Nathan. Literal sex."
Nathan lay next to her, his eyes locking with hers as he gently moved a strand of hair from her face. "Is that so?"
Jacqueline got close to him, their lips practically touching, but she teased him by putting the sandwich in his mouth instead. "You tell me."
"I'll admit, it is pretty good," he said, chewing his bite.
They laughed together, the playful banter lightening their spirits. Nathan took another bite of the sandwich, savoring the flavors and Jacqueline's compliment. They lay there, side by side, enjoying the peacefulness of the lake and the warmth of each other's company.
As the afternoon sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the water, Jacqueline rested her head on Nathan's shoulder, feeling a sense of contentment she hadn't felt in a long time.
"Nathan," she began as she stared at the setting sun, "have you taken anyone else here? Be honest."
Nathan put his arm around her. "Yes, but not romantically. I'll tell you the story if you'd like."
Jacqueline nodded, staring into his eyes as he began his story.
"When I was little, my parents were on and off with their separations, so I never had a stable environment growing up. I'd always have to rely on myself for meals, entertainment, and even attention. But one day, my mom got sick. And I mean really sick," he said, his eyes starting to redden.
