The ER was very hectic, a place where time seemed to blur and hours slipped by unnoticed. The urgent case I was called into, turned out to be a complex surgery that demanded every ounce of my focus.

I pushed aside all thoughts of Charles and the unsettling incident outside, burying myself into the task at hand. The patient needed me, and there was no room for distraction.

3 hours passed by, I stepped aside for 2 minutes to shoot Charles a text, he must be waiting for me but this surgery can take easily 4 hours more.

"It might take longer than I expected. You can go home. Please be careful. We will meet soon." I texted him.

I hoped he had listened and gone home to rest. He needed to take it easy after everything that had happened. Heath was already calling for me to come in so I kept my phone on silent and went inside the ER again.

I let out a sigh of relief as I removed my gloves and mask, feeling the exhaustion settle into my bones. The patient was stable, and I allowed myself a moment of satisfaction. It had been a difficult procedure, but we had done everything we could.

The operation went well, words can't explain how happy and proud I am. This is the reason why I chose this lifestyle. Saving people's lives. Nothing can beat that happiness.

As I stepped out of the ER, the familiar hospital sounds and smells surrounded me, a constant reminder of the life I had chosen. But then, something caught my eye-a familiar figure waiting by the entrance, Charles.

He was leaning against the wall, looking tired but determined. My heart skipped a beat as I saw him there, waiting for me. He hadn't gone home as I had asked. Instead, he had stayed.

"Charles," I called out, my voice a mix of surprise and concern.

"What are you doing here? I told you to go home and rest."

He straightened up, a small smile playing on his lips.

"I couldn't leave without you, Rox. I wanted to make sure you were okay."

My heart swelled at his words, and I walked over to him, unable to keep the smile off my face.

"You stubborn fool," I said, "You should be resting."

"I will," he promised, reaching out to take my hand.

"But first, I wanted to take you home. I thought we could have dinner together. I'll cook.”

I couldn't help but laugh, the tension of the day melting away in his presence. "You're going to cook for me? This I've got to see. Remember when you burnt the whole kitchen down last time you did in high school?"

He grinned, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Hey, I can cook now. You'll be impressed."

I shook my head, I felt nostalgia spreading through me. "All right, Leclerc. Let's go."

We walked out of the hospital, I already saw a red Ferrari waiting outside for us.

"God, It's sexy as hell" I whispered to myself, but I am pretty sure Charles heard it. He gave me a smirk.

Blood rushed into my cheeks, I wish I didn't say that out.

"You think so?" he teased, opening the passenger door for me. "I thought you'd be more impressed by my cooking skills than my car."

I rolled my eyes, trying to hide my embarrassment as I slipped into the passenger seat. "Let's just say I'm intrigued by both," I replied, buckling my seatbelt.

Charles closed the door and walked around to the driver's side, his movements graceful and confident. As he settled into the seat and started the engine, the car roared, sending a thrill through me.

The sound was intoxicating, and I felt a sense of danger and excitement just being in it.

The drive started smoothly, but as some time passed by, the atmosphere in the car shifted. The air grew thick with unspoken tension.

I glanced over at Charles. His eyes were focused on the road, but there was a heat in them, a flicker of something primal. The streetlights cast shadows across his face, highlighting the strong lines of his jaw.

"F**k" he whispered.

He pulled the car over suddenly, grabbed my neck and kissed me. Again.

It was tentative at first, but the moment our lips touched, The kiss deepened, becoming more urgent, more desperate, his hand coming up to cup the back of my head, pulling me closer.

There were so many walls between us that needed to break but in this moment I didn't care. His lips moved against mine with a hunger that matched my own, our breaths mingling, the car filling with the heat of our desire.

After a long 2 minutes, I broke the kiss gasping for air.

I shot him a quick glance, my eyebrows raising in surprise. The engine's rumble faded into silence, and we were left alone with the sound of our breaths.

Charles's eyes were dark, filled with an intensity that took my breath away.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to do that" he said, his hand trailing down my arm, sending shivers through me.

"Its fine" but my cheeks were so red I looked like a tomato.

"Let's go, I've got dinner to cook." He said his voice so deep it made me get butterflies in my stomach.

I nodded, still trying to catch my breath. "Yes," I agreed, my voice shaking. "Let's go home."

As he started the car and pulled back onto the road, the tension between us didn't disappear. If anything, it grew stronger. And as we drove towards his apartment, I knew that tonight was going to change everything.
