Family Time

Emily had been gone on a lot for Oppenheimer press. You and Emily had two daughters, Hazel who was 10 and Violet who was 8, and they missed her just as much as you did. After the night of the Oscars you flew home to be with your kids, but Emily had an early premiere for The Fall Guy. Thankfully the premiere was in New York, so she would be home that night, but most likely later when the kids would be asleep.

"Mom? When is Mum going to be home?" Violet asked, sitting next to you on the couch.

"Not till late tonight, Vi." you said sadly, playing with Violet's hair.

"Where's your sister?"

"Oh Hazel is watching the Barbie movie."

You laughed, "Do you know your mum is hanging out with Ken right now?"

"Wha-? that's not fair."

"Hey! You have me, and you know your mum is Mary Poppins."

"Yeah, whatever."

You gasp, "Do you want to go to bed early?"

"No! Can we please stay up and wait for mum to get home?"

"I guess we can."

"Yay!"

Hazel enters the room looking bored, "Hazel, is everything alright?"

"Uh yeah...I just miss mum..."

"Oh it's okay baby, come here. Me and Vi miss her too."

Hazel hops onto the couch and you bring the two of them into your arms.

"Why don't we watch one of your mum's movies? We can go up in my room."

They nod and you walk upstairs with them, holding Violet because she insisted that she couldn't walk up the stairs.

"Don't you think you're getting too big for this, love?"

"Never." she says into your shirt.

You and Hazel both giggle as you walk into your bedroom. Hazel jumps onto the bed, climbing under the covers on Emily's side of the bed.

You set Violet down as Hazel grabs the remote and turns on Jungle Cruise. You smile to yourself, knowing how much you love Emily in this movie. There was just something about her character that was very attractive to you.

As the movie began to play you felt Hazel's eyes on you. You turned your head to her and ruffled her hair.

"What is it?"

"You're like so in love with mum." she giggles

Violet laughs loudly, turning to Hazel as they both erupt into a fit of giggles.

"Well yeah she is my wife..."

"Okay..." they say, still giggling.

The three of you fall asleep with the movie still playing when Emily arrives home around 11pm. She quietly walks up the stairs, her outfit from the premiere still on. She couldn't help but feel warmth in her heart at the sight of her wife and kids asleep in her bed, watching one of her movies.

"Hey, Y/n." she said quietly, pushing your shoulder.

Your eyes flutter open to see Emily looking even more beautiful than normal with her hair and makeup done in her premiere outfit. You sit up and kiss her cheek.

"I missed you..."

"I can see that." she says, looking to the tv screen and laughing silently.

"The girls put it on."

"Okay well let me go get changed and I'll come cuddle with you."

You smile at her and then look back at your daughters, sleeping soundly.

"Oh they're so cute." Emily squeals.

"Hurry and change I don't want you to wake them."

"Okay, okay."

She leaves the room and heads into the bathroom to get ready for bed. It only takes her about 10 minutes till she comes back. You lift the covers for her to sit next to you and she wraps her arms around your waist burying her head into your chest as you play with her hair.

"Are you wearing my t-shirt?" she says, muffled into her shirt that you were wearing.

"Yeah."

She giggles and this wakes up Violet, which leads to Hazel waking up as well.

"Mum?" Violet asks, her voice groggy with sleep.

Emily rolls over top of you, making you laugh as she wraps her arms around Hazel and Violet. You smile at your family, joining in on the group hug.

"Don't worry guys, I'll be home quite a bit now and you are all coming with me for The Fall Guy press."

"Yay!" Hazel says.

"Does that mean we can meet Ken?" Violet interjects.

"If you two can be normal about it, maybe." Emily says.

"Oh mum we have to tell you, mom really likes you in Jungle Cruise."

You playfully swat Hazel's arm.

"Oh does she? And why's that, love?" Emily says, turning to face you.

"You're just very beautiful in it, that's all. But you're always beautiful." you say, kissing her lips.

"Okay ew, enough." Hazel says, sitting up.

You and Emily both laugh, "What Haze, are you going to leave now because your parents love each other." Emily says, wrapping her arms tightly around you.

"I just might." she says, but Violet pulls her back down.

"Don't leave me with them!"

Hazel laughs and says, "Okay, fine. I'll stay."

The four of you sleep close together that night for the first time in a while, just enjoying the moments you spend together.
