Emily had finally finished up the press tour for The Fall Guy, so she was finally able to spend more time with you. Unfortunately the alone time you had together wouldn't last long, she had four new films lined up to keep her busy.It was a Friday and you sat on the couch, waiting for Emily to finish making popcorn. You two were having a movie night together.
She comes into the living room with a bowl of popcorn and sits next to you on the couch. You wrap a blanket over you both and cuddle close to her, Emily's arm moving around your shoulders as she kisses your head.
"I missed this." you say with a sigh, leaning into her embrace.
"I know me too." she says into your hair.
"I'm sad you'll be busy with filming soon, but at least I'll get to go with you." you say with a hopeful smile.
The smile on Emily's face falters and she looks down, but then she clears her throat, trying to hide her sudden change in demeanor.
"Em? What's the matter?"
"It's...it's nothing."
"It's clearly something." you say, sitting up.
Emily sets a hand on your shoulder in an attempt to calm you down.
"Well...the director for my new project...he said...he said that I wasn't allowed to bring you to Paris with me." she says nervously, her gaze drifting to the floor.
"What?!"
You stand up, your arms crossed and tears threatening to leave your eyes.
"Emily why on earth would he say something like that? I'm your wife!" you yelled, the tears now streaming from your eyes and you unable to stop them.
"I think he said he maybe he didn't...like you..." she says hesitantly, only making you more upset.
Then you remembered: Emily had worked with this director before and he would always keep her on set later than everyone else and say suggestive things. You kinda got the vibe he had a crush on her and was slightly homophobic. He also knew she was married to you. So one day you confronted him about it, without telling Emily, which is probably why she's so confused and upset.
"Emily, you have a say in who you get to bring with you. He does not." you say more straightforward, your tone a bit less filled with emotions.
"But what if he kicks me off the project?" she says, the worry evident in her voice.
You sit back next to her on the couch, your hand on her thigh.
"Baby, he won't. Without you the film wouldn't be the same and he knows that, trust me."
"Why are you so sure?" Emily seems to be onto the idea you are not telling her everything you know.
"Just trust me on it, okay?"
You wanted to tell her about your suspicions about this guy, but at the same time you didn't want to worry her.
"It's only a few months, why is it so important that you have to come?" Emily says, her body language changing to avoiding contact with you.
Your eyes go wide. Did she not miss you as much as you've been missing her? God it hurt your heart to hear her say that, and there you were trying not to cry again.
"Am I not worth it to you? Is your career more important to you than your wife— your family?!" you try and and keep your voice steady but it's hard.
"No, no honey— I didn't mean it like that, I just...I don't want to get kicked off this film it's very important to me."
"More important than me?" a tear falls from your eye.
She's silent, but it's obvious she's not heartless about the situation. Her eyes start to well up with tears and she keeps reaching out to you but you pull away, and now you are standing off the couch again, pacing around the living room.
"Say it Emily, your work is more important to you than me. Say it." you cross your arms as you nearly spit the words at her.
She shakes her read repeatedly, still not speaking but tears fall down her face. You never fought with her like this, but there was some underlying tension. You had been hurting for months, feeling like her career was more important to her and what was happening right now was just proof of your fears.
Emily quickly stood up and grabbed her keys, leaving the apartment. You fell to the floor sobbing. You thought she left you. That the argument you just had was it.

What felt like years later, although it had only been an hour, she came back. You were sitting on the couch wearing one of her t-shirts and your face was covered in tears.
"Y/n..." Emily says softly, her voicing breaking at the sight of you.
She comes over to your side but she remains standing.
"I told him that I'm not doing the film unless my wife can be there with me."
Your expression changed to something more hopeful, that she actually does value you over her career. She kneels down in front of you, taking your hands in hers.
"I am so sorry, Y/n." she takes a deep breath, trying not to cry.
You give her hands a squeeze to reassure her that you're listening to her. She takes another deep preparing to speak again.
"I know that it seems like I value my work over you, and that is far from true. I just...I get so focused on it, that I lose sight of what's really important to me."
"But you understand that I feel so alone when all you do is prioritize your work." you say, trying not to cry, although it's hard when Emily is on her knees crying in front of you.
"I know, trust me I do. I will do whatever I can to prove that you're always going to be number one in my life. Just say it, and I'll be there."
"Just the idea of you not being with me for three months..." you look away, shaking your head as you fight back tears, "It makes me sick."
Emily is quick to sit next to you on the couch, wrapping her arms around you tightly as she cries.
"I'm so sorry, my love." she repeats over and over as she kisses your head, holding you tightly against her chest.
Eventually when both your tears subside and the room falls silent you lift your head to look into her eyes. She reaches out to wipe the dried tears off your cheek, and you lean into her touch.
"I love you so much, you know that?" she says softly.
"Am I...enough for you?" you say, your tone distant.
"You're more than enough, you're my everything." she says, the inflection of her voice making you feel that she truly means it.
And with that you kiss her, and she pulls you impossibly close, and you both never seem to want to let go.
