POPPY EVANS was the quietest of her sisters. Lily and Petunia already did enough trouble for the three of them. Between the fights of the two oldest, Poppy always tried to get them to get along. She loved them so much, it hurt how they couldn't get along.

As a kid she tried to make herself small, quiet, not to bring any trouble to her parents. They had been so proud of Lily, when she got her letter and a professor came to explain what was happening. They were so, so proud. A witch in the family! Something they had never thought possible.

Poppy had seen Petunia, how her eyes were glossed, fighting the tears. Poppy had been there for her oldest sister when they were left alone at home. Poppy had been there, helping her write the letter to Dumbledore. Petunia had told everyone until her last breath that Poppy was her only sister, her favourite.

You could feel Petunia's anger, when on a hot summer day of 1973 came a letter. This time it had not been addressed to Lily Evans, but to Poppy Evans. It seemed, Poppy was also a witch. Behind all her happiness, Poppy felt sad for her sister.

Since then, Petunia had avoided Poppy. Even when Poppy promised she would talk to Dumbledore himself to let Petunia in Hogwarts, the oldest Evans sister had stayed silent. Poppy had even tried to deny going to Hogwarts, stay home with her.
