The day of departure had arrived, and the camp was bustling with activity as soldiers and nurses packed up their gear. Lisa moved through the motions, her mind preoccupied with the thought of seeing Irene one last time before they parted ways.

However, as she scanned the area, she couldn't spot her anywhere. A feeling of disappointment settled in her chest.

Jennie approached Lisa, interrupting her thoughts. "So, about that coffee we talked about? Are we still on?" Jennie asked, her voice cheerful.

Lisa forced a smile and nodded. "Yeah, sure, Jennie. Coffee sounds good."

"Uhmm.. I never saw your co-worker nurse Bae around?" Lisa unconsciously asked.

"Oh, about Irene? She already went back yesterday. She collapsed while on duty. They said she needed some rest. I always remind her to take a rest but she doesn't listen"

A wave of worry washed over Lisa, but she tried to keep her expression neutral. "I see. Thanks for letting me know,"

"Why is there anything you would like to say?" Jennie curiously asked.

"Nothing much really, It was about medical stuff but never mind since she already left" Lisa reasoned out.

"well then, I had to go we needed to pack some few stuff" Jennie smiled.

"- and I guess this would be my goodbye since were in different vehicles later" she continued.

Lisa responded with a smile, "Ya'll did a great job"

"and so are you captain" Jennie genuinely answered.

And with last words, they separated as the packed their own equipment.

Lisa's mind was a whirlwind of emotions. The news about Irene collapsing weighed heavily on her, and she couldn't shake the worry gnawing at her. She wanted to see Irene, to make sure she was okay, but she wasn't sure if she is at their hospital or maybe reting at her address. .

As she continued packing and preparing for departure, Lisa couldn't help but think about the missed opportunity to confess her feelings.

Lisa had no choice but to return to her duties, her thoughts frequently drifting back to Irene. Despite her attempts to focus on the task at hand, the memory of their brief encounter lingered in her mind.

....

A few days later, Lisa found herself at a restaurant with her friends, enjoying a well-deserved break. The atmosphere was lively, filled with the sounds of laughter and clinking glasses. Lisa's friends, Jennie, Dami, and Seulgi, were chatting animatedly, but Lisa's mind was elsewhere.

Seulgi noticed Lisa's distant expression and nudged her gently. "Hey, Lisa, are you okay? You've been quiet tonight."

Lisa snapped out of her reverie and forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a lot on my mind."

Dami raised an eyebrow. "Care to share?"

Taking a deep breath, Lisa decided to share the news. "I met Irene again."

Her friends fell silent, their eyes widening in surprise.

"You mean, Irene, Bae Irene the one you used to have a thing during our training camp days back at college?" Dami asked, leaning forward.

Lisa nodded. "Yeah, the same Irene. We were both assigned to the earthquake relief mission."

Jeongyeon eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Wow, talk about destiny! How did it go?"

Lisa hesitated, remembering the unfinished conversation. "It was...unexpected. We didn't get much time to talk,"

Seulgi frowned slightly. "Did you manage to clear the air? What happened between you two back then?"
