Cara
Then:

I've always wondered if true love exists. Does everyone have their person? Will I ever find my person? Will I find the love I deserve; the love everyone deserves?

"Hey, Cara!" My best friend Emma says. Emma is my best friend, she has ever since we were born. Our mothers, best friends, ironically had Emma and I at the same time. Emma has always been there, she's the best friend I've ever had.

"Hi!" I say smiling. Emma has a frown on her face when I turn to see Brad, the most dreadful boy in school.

"Hey Cara, do something for me, will you?" Brad asks me. I internally roll my eyes and my stomach drops.

I look at him skeptically and say, "I guess but it depends on what it is." What could he possibly want from me now?

He looks at me for a second as if he's questioning on whether he should ask me or not. I already feel like crying.

"Well," he begins and is somewhat avoiding eye contact. "You see those guys over there, yeah I want you to go talk to them."

"I wouldn't want to intrude in their conversation." I say and avoid his face. It's so hard to look at him. "And why me?"

"I just want to see how they would react, to a girl like you coming up to speak to them." He says.

I grimace at his stupid words.

"A girl like me. What exactly do you mean by that?" I ask very confused as to what is going on right now.

"I don't know just you— I don't know how to explain what I'm trying to say. You know?" Brad says and I fiddle with the string on my pants.

"Not exactly but whatever." I say as I start walking up to their table. I'm taking deep breaths and my heart is pounding.

I don't understand what just happened over there and why I'm so nervous. But then again, I don't know these guys, what if they are actually psycho's or something.

"I'm Cara. Um Brad over there sent me over here. I don't know why but nice to meet you." I say and my cheeks flare.

They look at me before a guy with red hair and is wearing black sunglasses says, "Hey I'm Sam nice to meet you, Cara. This is Jack."

I smile a closed mouth smile and look up at them. "It's nice to meet you, too." I break eye contact and look down.

I look around awkwardly until I hear someone say my name. "Cara?" The boy Jack says. He has a deep, smooth British accent when he speaks.

Yes, a British. Accent.

"Yes?" I reply. I look up at him and gosh. He's got light brown hair and eyes. His features are soft but defined— perfect.

"Why are you here, trying to make conversation with us? Shouldn't you be over there with your people?"

Oh. My people? What is that supposed to mean? All the people I hang out with is Emma. What other people is he thinking? "Um I—"

"Dude what's your problem, you don't have to be so rude." Sam tells Jack and hits his arm earning him a glare.

"Sorry about him, he doesn't know how to talk to people. You can sit down if you'd like." Sam says to me.

"No that's okay thank you, it was nice meeting you. I'm just gonna go." I say and start walking.

"You don't have to—" Sam begins but I wave goodbye and head back to our table.

"So how did it go?" Brad asks and I already want to smack him for introducing the idea—but I did it so technically it's my fault.

"Fine." I say shrugging. I grab a chip from Emma's plate and she scoots it over for me to grab more.
