"So what's the plan for today?" Emily asked looking at the rest of the group when everyone had joined the circle to eat breakfast. "Any ideas on where we can start looking for answers and possibly a way back home?"
"Well," Michael began after taking a sip of orange juice, "I think we should start by gathering information. Maybe we can ask around the town, see if anyone knows about strange occurrences or if there's anyone knowledgeable about... well, unusual events."
Emily nodded. "Sounds like a plan. We could also check the library and see if any old books or records might tell us about what happened to Mayor Hawthorne."
Olivia stirred her cereal absentmindedly, thinking. "I think it might be best if I just stayed here, I don't want to slow you guys down."
"No." Emily's voice was firm with a hint of fear. "We're not splitting up again. we made that mistake the first time, we're not doing that again."
Daniel nodded, wiping his mouth with a napkin. "Agreed. Splitting up is not a good idea."
Thomas and Rachel nodded as a sign of agreement.
Michael set down his glass, nodding in agreement with Emily. "Alright then, sticking together it is."
Emily glanced around at the group. "So, after breakfast, we'll head into town. Ask around and check out the library."
Rachel nodded. "And we should keep an eye out for anything unusual while we're out there. Clues can come from unexpected places."
The group nodded in agreement, their resolve firm as they made plans over breakfast.
"Right," Emily said, standing up and collecting her plate. "Let's finish up here and get going. The sooner we start, the sooner we might be able to go home."
As they finished breakfast and prepared to head out, Michael added, "And let's try to blend in as much as possible. We don't want to draw too much attention to ourselves." Looking at his own atire.
As the group finished their breakfast, Emily glanced at their attire and realized they stood out quite a bit in the 1940s setting with their eclectic clothing.
"Michael's right," Emily said, looking down at her own Victorian dress. "We need to find some clothing that fits this era better if we want to blend in."
Thomas nodded in agreement. "It'll help us avoid unnecessary attention."
Rachel chimed in, "Considering the war going on, asking for help will draw a lot of attention to us."
Daniel whispered, "Perhaps we could... borrow some clothes temporarily?"
"You mean like stealing?" Micheal asked hesitantly, unsure if he could agree with his friend's proposal to ensure his friends were safe. "You do realize that we are in a war, right? If you steal from the wrong person, that could end us."
Daniel shook his head quickly. "No, not stealing. More like... borrowing without asking."
Emily sighed, considering their options. "Desperate times call for desperate measures, I suppose." She adjusted her backpack and glanced at the others. "I know we just agreed to stick together, but going out like this will draw too much attention to us, the smaller the group, the better." She took a small break and announced her plan."I'll be going with Daniel and Michael, to get us some time-appropriate clothes."
Rachel gave Emily a reassuring smile. "Be careful out there."
Michael, Daniel, and Emily headed into the town, keeping to the quieter streets and alleys to avoid unnecessary attention. The town had an air of cautious activity, with people bustling about, likely due to the ongoing war. Their strange attire drew a few curious glances, but they managed to avoid confrontations.
