The group tensed, instinctively moving closer together. The dark figure from Olivia's vision materialized before them, its form even more imposing in the physical world. Its eyes glowed with a sinister light, and its smile was a chilling reminder of the power it held over them.
"You were given a chance to embrace my power, Olivia," the figure hissed. "Now, you and your friends will suffer the consequences of your defiance."
Emily stepped forward, her jaw set in determination. "You have no power over us." She clutched her compass tightly, the light flickering as if in response to the entity's presence.
The entity's eyes narrowed, and it raised a hand, dark energy swirling around its fingers. "Then let the darkness consume you."
The amulet's glow intensified, and a beam of light shot from it, striking the entity. It recoiled, hissing in pain and rage. "You cannot defeat me! I am eternal!" Its voice echoed all around them.
The light from the amulet expanded, enveloping the group in a protective sphere. The entity screamed, its form dissolving into shadowy tendrils that writhed and twisted before finally dissipating into the air.
The cavern shook violently, and the protective sphere around the group began to flicker. "We need to move!" Daniel shouted, his protective instincts kicking in. "This place is collapsing!"
The group sprinted through the cavern, following the flickering light of their compasses. The ground trembled beneath their feet, and chunks of rock fell from the ceiling, but they pressed on, driven by the hope of escape.
As they ran, they noticed the carvings on the walls glowing with a strange light, as if guiding them. They followed the illuminated path, the light growing brighter with each step.
Suddenly, Olivia stumbled on a loose rock, her foot twisting painfully. She cried out, falling to the ground. Thomas, running just behind her, skidded to a halt and dropped to his knees by her side.
"Olivia!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with panic.
Olivia gritted her teeth, trying to push through the pain. "I'm okay," she insisted, but her face was pale, and she could barely put weight on her foot.
The ground continued to shake, and the ceiling creaked ominously above them. Daniel looked back, his protective instincts kicking in. "We can't stay here. We need to keep moving."
Michael rushed to Olivia's other side, helping her up. "Lean on us," he said, his voice urgent but soothing. "We'll get you out of here."
With Thomas and Michael supporting her, Olivia hobbled forward, each step a jolt of pain. The group moved as quickly as they could, the glowing carvings their only guide in the collapsing cavern.
Rachel and Emily took the lead, their compasses blazing a path through the darkness. The sound of falling rocks and the tremors underfoot made every step a test of their resolve. They pressed on, driven by the need to escape and protect one another.
As they neared the cavern's exit, the tremors intensified. The path behind them began to collapse, sending dust and debris into the air. The exit was in sight, a sliver of light growing larger with each step.
"We're almost there!" Emily shouted, her voice cutting through the chaos.
With a final burst of effort, the group surged toward the exit. Thomas and Rachel half-carried, half-dragged Olivia, her ankle swelling and bruising but her spirit unbroken. They burst through the opening and found themselves back in the forest.
The sun was setting, casting a warm, golden light over the trees. They collapsed onto the ground, panting and exhausted but relieved to be free.
Thomas looked around, a smile of disbelief spreading across his face. "We made it. We're out."
