Taehyung and Jimin sat on the comfortable couch, sipping tea and sharing stories as they basked in the comfort of each other's company.

"So, Namjoon huh. What happened to no secrets between us?"

Taehyung prompted, his eyes bright with curiosity. Jimin's face lit up with excitement and a faint blush appeared on his face.

"Taeee, you know right I was done with dating after my ex. I didn't really think about it for a long time. But then Namjoon came into my life and everything just changed instantly! I just wanted to surprise you.. that's why I hid our relationship.. but it's not a secret anymore right!"

Taehyung leaned back, a boxy grin visible on his face.

"Oh well about your ex, I would have taught her a lesson if only I were there. How dare she break up with you because of your height?! What kind of stupid reason is that!"

Jimin laughed at Taehyung's outburst. Well it was true, his last girlfriend broke up with him over his height and Taehyung was furious knowing that. He wanted to go to Jimin immediately, hearing his best friend crying over phone but it was around 2 years ago. So, now Jimin only joked about it, however, by the look on Taehyung's face, it was clear that he still held grudges against her.

"Lesson and you? Yeah sure. Keep your lessons upto your students"

Jimin was still laughing, making Taehyung frown.

"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?!"

Taehyung understood Jimin was being sarcastic. That's how he was, always has been, specially when it came to Taehyung. He never missed a single chance to tease Taehyung. Well Taehyung wasn't far behind. He had his fair share of teasing as well. A totally different side of Taehyung, barely anyone knew.

"Tae c'mon. The 13-year-old mama's boy didn't even protest when a girl pushed him down on the ground. Why? Apparently he was too shy to say anything to her...I can give more examples like that. You haven't changed much I can tell"

"Yeah yeah keep laughing. I don't understand what's so funny about it"

Taehyung crossed his arms near his chest after rolling his eyes. No matter how hard he tried to be the upper hand in this game of teasing, Jimin was always one step ahead of him. Just like now, in just a few moments the teasing part changed from Namjoon to Taehyung's childhood so easily.

"Seriously I had to help you that day in the orphanage. But you didn't even talk to me! If someone told me that day almost 15 years later we'd still be best friends, I would have thought they were just messing with me"

"I still remember those days," Jimin reminisced, a nostalgic smile gracing his lips. "Your mom's visits to our orphanage with you and I'm forcing you to play with me...ahh I miss  those"

Taehyung’s eyes softened, a faraway look settling in them. He swallowed hard, the lump in his throat not going away. The mention of his mother suddenly made him too emotional. Remembering the days when he was still protected and nurtured in his mother's loving embrace always made him emotional. He still remembered his mother's compassion and kindness, always acting as his shield when he was just an introverted kid.

Jimin understood the gravity of Taehyung's sudden silence, realising the reason quickly. He was his best friend after all.

Jimin squeezed Taehyung’s hand gently. And that was the last chord for Taehyung before he broke down completely.

"I miss her, Jimin, so much... She was the heart of our family, you know? After she... passed, everything changed...She was the one who kept us together. When she died, it felt like a part of me died with her..."
