This is my first Portwell Oneshots, requested by @hsmtmtsfan19
Enjoy!EJ's POV: I walk into a dance studio to see someone I haven't seen in a while. "Great job, everybody, see ya tomorrow." I heard a familiar voice as I walked through the dance studio, I saw one of the dancers who I went to high school with, it was Gina. "Hey, Gina." I said as she turned around & hugged me. "EJ Caswell, it's been a while how've you been?" Gina asked as we released from the hug, smiling. "Yeah, it has been a while & I've been good, how about you?" I told her. "I've been great." Gina told me. "Hey G, there's a café a few blocks from here we can go get some lunch if you want." I offered her, I know we weren't dating anymore but that doesn't mean we can't hang out every now & then. Gina smiled brightly. "I would love that! I've been dying to try the food at the café everyone's been talking about." She told me as we began walking side by side. "You mean the one with the amazing pastries? I've heard their almond croissants are to die for." I said I heard from Seb & Carlos that they have good pastries, coffee & more over there.
3rd POV: "Exactly! And I've heard they have a killer matcha latte too." Gina added her excitement growing as they walked through the bustling streets. As they made their way to the café, EJ glanced sideways at her, his blue eyes were filled with curiosity. "So, tell me more about what you've been working on lately. I heard you had a big audition recently?" EJ asked her as Gina's face shifted slightly as a hint of concern crept into her behavior. "Yeah, it was for a lead role in a new dance production & it's really competitive, but I think I did well...just waiting to hear back now." Gina said. "Gina, you're an incredible dancer... you've got this!" The tall boy reassured her, stopping for a moment to look her in the eyes. "I can't wait to see you shine on that stage." He added as the sweet girl smiled at him."Thanks, EJ...that means a lot coming from you," She replied, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. As they approached the café, the smell of fresh coffee & baked goods enveloped them, EJ pushed the door open, holding it for Gina as they stepped inside. The place was cozy, with a soft buzz of conversation filling the air. "Let's grab a table by the window." EJ suggested, leading the way. Once seated, they both browsed the menu, the chatter flowing easily between them. "So, when you're not auditioning, what else have you been up to?" EJ asked her, genuinely interested in what she does in her spare time. "Oh, just teaching some workshops but, I've also started working on my own choreography." Gina said her passion evident in her voice. "Really? That's amazing! I'd love to see your work sometime." EJ said encouraging her. Gina's face lit up at his words. "Would you? I'd love your feedback! Maybe we could collaborate on something together?" EJ's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I'd be honored...I can already picture it, a fusion of your dance style & my direction. It could be something truly special." He said as the dancer's face lit up with his words. "That would be awesome! I've been trying to blend different styles together, some contemporary with a bit of jazz influence. I've even started using some audio clips from my favorite movies to create a story within the dance." She said excitedly & very passionate. "Do you have any performances lined up?" EJ replied, leaning forward in interest. "Not yet, but I'm hoping to organize something soon." Gina said, her excitement palpable. "Maybe a small showcase? Just to get some feedback & see how it all comes together." She added while EJ nodded, clearly impressed. "Count me in as your biggest fan! I'll be there cheering you on, front row!" He said proudly, Gina giggled at feeling grateful for his encouragement. "Thank you! It definitely helps to know I have support." She said with a warm smile
Gina's POV: A few minutes later, a barista approached our table, ready to take our orders. I quickly ordered a matcha latte & an almond croissant, while EJ chose for a regular coffee & a chocolate croissant. As we waited for their drinks, the conversation shifted to lighter topics: favorite movies, travel destinations, hobbies & relationships as well. After a few minutes, our drinks arrived & I took my first sip of the matcha latte. "Wow, this is incredible!" I exclaimed, the taste bursting with flavor. "You've got to try it." I said as I reached the matcha out to him, I saw EJ took a tentative sip of the matcha, then smiled. "Okay, that's really good. I might have to get one next time." He said as I teased a little bit. "See? I told you it'd be worth it!" I teased, nudging him playfully, until I had glanced at her watch and nearly choked on my drink. "Wow, we've been here for over an hour! I should probably head back soon." I said as I was a little worried. "Nini's gonna be so mad at me that I'm late." I added, Nini & I have been dating for almost 4 years now. "What, why?" EJ asked me. "I promised her that I would make it up to her for being really busy on her birthday & halfway busy on our anniversary." I added worried, EJ looked at me surprised too. "Yeah, I should probably get going too." EJ said. "I have a few things to wrap up before the weekend & Ricky's waiting for me to come see him since I haven't seen him since his birthday I mean I've been so busy that I rarely see him anymore." He added, scratching his head then it hit me hard. "Wait...are you 2 dating?" I asked him, I noticed that his eyes widened in surprise. "Oh my gosh, that's so cute!" I said as I almost made my drink & croissant fall on the floor. "No, no we're not dating, we've just been hanging out is all." EJ said, I saw him blush a little. "So...dating~" I said teasingly. "We are not-don't you have somewhere to be, Gina." EJ said as I remembered Nini being mad at me. "Oh right, see ya later EJ...we're not done talking about you & Ricky though~" I said as I got up from my chair. "Oh shut up..." EJ said as I giggled at him being a little embarrassed then we paid for our croissants, matcha & coffee at the countertop, leaving the café. "I had a great time today, Gina," EJ said smiling at me. "Let's do this again soon?" He added. "Yes, let's! Maybe next time it can be a double date~" I suggested, teasingly nudging him, I saw him almost choke on his coffee while his face almost turned red as a tomato. "Ricky & I aren't dating..." EJ said embarrassed. "Uh huh, keep telling yourself that EJ." I said teasing him some more. "GINA!" EJ said angrily as I giggled at his face being so flustered, later on we both went our separate ways.
