how can thirteen, simple words describe my entire life?
daily, endless battles to fight, yet they all end with strife.
i'm the worst at everything, while everyone else is so fast,
i somehow find myself always coming last.
haters joke that their comments are satire,
yet they make me feel nothing, not even close to wired.
i ask myself if i am okay,
the answer is a trembling yes, but my eyes betray.
"you'll get there," they say, "put on a tough face",
as far as facades go, i feel my mask slowly melting away.
and we all know that never once on the podium,
will i ever earn a place.
top dogs will be top dogs,
for i am the underdog.
