Chapter 1

''What happened? Am I... '' ''Something is wrong; I can't...'' Mercury's thoughts drifted in and out of darkness as sunshine hit down on him. Mercury wondered if he was still in his orbit, questioning if all the events were just figments of his imagination. Mercury tried to open his eyes but found it hard to even lift his eyelids open. Mercury then heard a rough voice calling out to him, filled with concern: "Hey, are you alright?" Mercury tried to figure out who the voice was before slipping into unconsciousness.

Mercury slowly came too as his eyes tried to adjust to his surroundings. All he saw was a blurry, reddish-drown figure near a light. Mercury blinked, trying to get a clearer view of the figure after focusing intensely for what felt like hours. A large creature that had a strange thing around its neck with things inside it yelled, jumping up in shock before hitting something hard, making Mercury wince. Mercury quickly pushed himself back to gain distraught from the strange creature. "What-Who-?" Mercury stammered, shocked that it was talking to him, and it sounded like the same voice that he heard when he was drifting in and out of consciousness. "I said calm down! " The creature spat its tone filled with annoyance, and Mercury shut up, not wanting to make the creature more irritated than it already was. Mercury, calming a bit, realized now that he looked more closely at the creature. It had arms and legs like astrodudes, but instead of hands or feet, it had strange fingerless hands. Mercury then noticed that the creature had hair covering its body, with some areas missing hair. It also had a strange stub that moved from left to right, giving the impression of annoyance.

" What... are you?" Mercury asked the creature, confused about how he ended up here and with the creature. The creature gave a shocked look that was quickly replaced with a scowl. "You hit your head or something?" The creature asked its amber eyes to board Mercury's. "I think so. Ow, everything hurts." Mercury hissed in pain, trying to figure out what just happened. The creature said nothing for a moment before saying, "Look, just lay down and rest; it seems you have been tossed around by a dog or a two-leg." Mercury blinks a few times in confusion at the creature, confused about what even a dog or a two-legged animal is. Mercury then had a sudden realization: he must be on Earth, the planet with the most life and where humans reside. He was in heaven! Mercury screamed some more, but the creature spat, " Quiet! you're doing to draw unwanted attention!"

Mercury then went on a huge rant: "What even are you? Where am I?! How am I inside Earth?! Why do I feel so weird?" The creature hissed at Mercury's face, making him shut up. " For all things big and small, SHUT UP." The creature spat. Mercury flinched, staring at the tall creature. The creature let out a sigh and said, "I am a cat; you are in the two-leg place, and you are a cat!" Mercury just stared at the "cat" with the most confused expression before bursting out laughing, which only made the "cat' scowl more. " I am not a 'Cat, am I?" Mercury said before his eyes trailed down to his surface, what was his surface? Mercury froze in utter tarror, seeing he had arms like the cat, and his surface, or what once was his surface, was covered in hair. Feeling pained, Mercury frantically looked across his body and realized he was a cat. He noticed a strange limb on his back, currently tucked under his hind legs.

After a bit, Mercury finally spoke, " Happened to Me?!" Mercury yelled, feeling strange as he shivered, looking at the strange new limbs. He was wobbling unsteadily on this strange new appendage. The cat mumbled something under his breath, too quiet for Mercury to hear, and said, "Calm down, kit; you are giving yourself a panic attack over nothing." The cat spoke, but Mercury cut him off. "OVER NOTHING?! I AM FREAKING OUT AND AM NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS! " Mercury yelled. The cat frowned, giving Mercury a raised brow, confused about his outburst. After taking deep breaths to calm down, Mercury felt himself slip into unconsciousness once more. Mercury, with his last breath, told the cat his name before darkness took him.
