Fucking Gojo, Utahime had called him two days ago from the bathroom and he had conveniently left out the part that someone had eaten one of Sukuna's fingers and survived. "Such a fool, I can't believe I trusted that male succubi" Utahime muttered.
Apparently, they were letting the vessel live and the only catch was, Gojo would have to kill him, the minute something went wrong. Utahime was grateful that something like that hadn't happened at Kyoto College. Her students were nearly perfect except for a few exceptions, but that was what she was there for. To help those who couldn't help themselves.
However, Utahime couldn't deny the fact that she was curious to see the vessel. As a child, she had seen paintings of Sukuna's true form, but she knew that his bodily manifestation would be different this time and that he might be even more powerful.
All in all, this year would be smooth sailing on her side of the town, and that meant she could focus on becoming the high priestess full-time.
She brushed aside a loose strand of hair and tucked it behind her ears. It was the third Saturday of the month, which meant she had to deposit money for her father. Since she had nothing lined up for the rest of the day, she thought she would visit him in person and deliver the money. Maybe she would even cook him a meal.
She packed light for the weekend, taking only a few clothes and her Miko costume. She pushed the Miko costume to the back of the suitcase along with her sacred objects. Once everything was in place, Utahime set off.
She boarded the train to Nagoya and occupied herself with one of the magazines.
Her father had been one of the reasons why she had chosen to teach at Kyoto College. It was closer to Nagoya, unlike Tokyo or like her previous job. Once the income from the teaching job helped her settling in, she started helping her dad too.
At first, he had outright refused. A type of stubbornness, a trait he passed down to Utahime. Eventually, Utahime wore him down. She wanted him to live comfortably in his old age.
The train hardly took half an hour before it pulled to stop at Nagoya and Utahime hauled her belongings behind her.
The urbaness of Nagoya always caught her off guard. How it was completely different to her life in central Kyoto.
Her father chose an apartment slightly on the outskirts of the city which meant Utahime had to trudge through the city with the baggage and she for one hated that.
She looked both ways before stepping into the bustling street and walked towards the other side where lines of shops adorned the street seeking the undivided attention of the passerby
Utahime caught her reflection in the glass of a small shop. She looked normal. A normal middle-aged woman, only she had a huge scar marring half her face. She peered through the glass and found herself staring into an aquarium.
"Uh?" Utahime mused.
"Did you know they are showcasing the butterfly koi today" a woman was telling someone else
Utahime considered going straight to her father's house without wasting any more time but her cursed curiosity wanted to see the butterfly koi
The woman who was talking about the butterfly koi rocked a blonde bob and had her arms linked into a guy's who couldn't be anyone other than her fiance. Utahime followed them inside while doing a puke impression behind their backs.
The shop's interior had low light and faint music played in the background. Utahime took in her surroundings. The entire place was filled with tanks that held one or two fish. Expect one big tank that seemed to house a baby shark. Utahime inched closer to the big tank hoping the butterfly koi was in it.
