Holding a volleyball, Ella tossed it in the air.
Her eyes never left the ball. She focused on its movement.
She followed the ball. She positioned herself. She shouted to her teammates, it's her ball.
She jumped, arched her back, and smashed the ball.
Everyone screamed as she secured the point for her team.
She saw Alyssa, her best friend, run as fast as she could to hug her. The rest of her teammates did the same.
They shouted and celebrated as they secured another trophy for the university.
The six aces hugged each other and cried. They're indeed the pride and legacy of their university.
Ella eyed Jema who joined them alongside Kyla. She saw how her teary eyes landed on her.
Their eyes met. With a huge smile plastered on their lips, they silently thanked each other.

Ella opened her eyes. It's been months since she graduated. It's been months since she entered college life.
With no assurance of what might happen in the future, Ella accepted the change. She believed nothing's permanent anyway aside from changes.
She entered the dorm. She's sharing the same room with Alyssa and Dennise. Jia wanted to be with them as well but only three people could fit in one dorm.
They attended different programs. Ella chose psychology. It was her dream even before playing volleyball. For her, there's just something interesting about people— the way they think and act around each other and when they're alone.
She put her books on her bedside table. She wanted to sleep now that she was done reading the first chapters of the book Bea de Leon recommended her to read.
Kanina, Alyssa messaged her that she won't be home early together with Dennise kasi may tatapusin pa sila. Ella noticed how both suddenly became close after their graduation but she just shrugged it off.
Speaking of graduation, naalala ni Ella how many things changed after she graduated. At the age of 16, her life drastically changed from being a student-athlete who only prioritizes volleyball to being a full-time student. Hindi siya sanay na hindi humahawak ng bola.
Pero plano na ni Ella, kasama nina Alyssa, Denisse at Jia na muling mag-try-out sa panibagong paaralang pinapasukan nila. Hindi pa kasi opening kaya naghihintay muna sila.
Her thoughts wander more. It brought her to the night when they had a gathering after their graduation.
She remembered the night she was confused about herself.
Ever since she was young, she knew there was something wrong with her.
So, she explored.
She entered a relationship with Alfred, her friend and long-time suitor. She tried to have her firsts with him.
