Shades of War

Act 1 - Location: Taasha Armada - Quintessence Stronghold

"Listen up soldiers! We're in dark times, the Medsift Vanguard is attempting to take over Vyria D9OU, they've already taken hold of its ring but we've taken over its moons." Captain Dayne stormed into the room, red outfit gleaming under the harsh flourescent light. His expression grim but determined, he turned to face his troops, a sea of reluctant faces greeting him.

Intil he noticed one expression that was different from the rest; determined, excited almost, it belonged to the lead pilot of the Taasha Armada, Armanis Matari. He was, undoubtedly, the most loyal of the Taasha and eager to serve the Armada. Armanis was found by Captain Dayne when he was 10, almost dead and struggling on the barren planet of Cheshan N9D6, that was 12 years ago and since then he's been raised into the finest pilot the Taasha have ever seen.

After the "pep talk" the troops disbanded to check their own ships and weapons, this could very well be their last time being out amongst the stars. Their typical friendly glow now burning with a fiery passion, almost as if they themselves have been affected by the rising tension. Armanis was making sure he had all the weapons he deemed necessary, some Infused Thermal Cannons, a Refined Pulse Phaser, and an Astral Flux Blaster. He was locked in conversation with Emilea and Horrison, his long time friends since the Academy days. If someone spent any prolonged amount of time around them, they'd realize that they have wildly different views on their mission.

For example, the three of them were once called on an emergency mission due to some Medsift attempting a raid on one of their moon bases. They easily caught the intruder, having spent weeks on that particular moon for training, and let them plead their case. It turned to be a mother of two, she got involved with the Medsift in order to provide for her family and was more than willing to switch sides if it let her take care of them. Emilea and Horrison were moved by her plea and were going to bring her to one of the many Taashan courts to try and get her a smaller sentence. Armanis on the other hand felt that she should be punished severely just for being imvolved with the Medsift. In the end the mother was brought to the courts and found guilty, she was executed days later by Armanis' advocation and her children were found and brought to Taasha to work.

It often went like that between the three friends, Emilea and Horrison often advocating for peace treaties and compromise between Medsift and Taasha. While Armanis advocated for the complete destruction of the Medsift Vanguard for their actions against the Taasha Armada. Perhaps they'll be able to settle those differences after the battle is over.

And that's the end of Act 1! I hope you enjoy the story cause I'm honestly really proud of this one and will more than likely make more of these kinds of stories. You may have noticed that some words are in bold, underlined, or italicised, that's because I was trying to differentiate things as this story was originally written in google docs and printed out. The words were organized/stood out via color and different fonts so that readers wouldnt get confused, though if it does end up confusing you then let me know and I can get rid of it.
