CHAPTER SEVEN.
narrative

Everett, Mia, and I walk into Benny and Hudson's apartment, bags on our arms from the snacks I just spent my money on. As well as a coffee for Hudson. Mostly because I bought myself one and he would actually hate me if I didn't get him one too.

"Hey!" Everett calls out in her sweet voice.

Benny turns to look at his girlfriend with a bright smile. "Hey babe!"

I smile at them because I think they're the cutest, but it also hurts a little. Asher would never act that way with me in front of friends. I push that feeling down, placing the bags on the counter. "How was shopping?" Benny asks as he begins to rifle through the bags we had just put down.

"It was hectic but I think we got enough snacks to feed an army."

"Where's Hudson?" I ask, shaking the other coffee cup in my hand.

Benny shrugs. "Somewhere, I don't know."

"You live with him," Mia says and Benny just shrugs again.

I place the cups down and as if right on time, he steps into the kitchen. "Daisy Grace," he says, dragging out my middle name. "Did you get me a coffee?"

I let out a soft sigh and smiled at him. "Here," I say, passing him a cup.

His face lights up as he scurries over to me and wraps me up in his muscular arms lifting me off the ground a bit. "You are my favorite!" he says as he sways me back and forth before putting me back down.

I laugh softly. "Better be," I say, checking my phone. I've been waiting for a text from Asher all day. I texted her earlier, apologizing for the argument. I even tried to call her, but it went straight to voicemail.

Mentally, I scold myself for even checking. I should just forget about it and have a fun time with my friends. As I scroll on my phone with no luck of finding a text the front door of Ben and Hudson's apartment opens and in walks Caitlin, Kate, Jada, Gabbie, Hannah, and Kylie with their hands full of board games, snacks, and alcohol.

I have to do a double take when I see Caitlin and then I stare at Hudson. He is sipping on his coffee, attempting to avoid eye contact with me at all costs. Sure, we had fun at karaoke the other night, but that doesn't mean I want to continue spending time around her.

"Never ask me to get you coffee again," I tell him, my voice low so hopefully no one else can hear me but him.

He shrugs his shoulders. "You said invite the basketball girls... And plus, this is my place and Cait is my sister. It only seems fair..."

I nod. "I get it. Still, no more coffee," I tell him with a small smile and he just shakes his head, probably knowing I won't keep my word with that one. We get coffee together at least twice a day.
