Cameron and Debra sat together having coffee in the funeral parlor, it was rather cozy and clean.
"So do you live here alone?" Debra asked while looking around at the old fashioned decor.
"Yes." Cameron replied simply, his empty blue eyes staring into Debra's soul. She looked at her lap awkwardly while holding her cup in her hands.
"So how do you run a funeral home and a cemetery at the same time?" Debra was genuinely curious, she had researched about how the funeral home and cemetery were right next to each other. They were both in the Hepster family name and was passed down from the very first Hepster in 1861. Since Cameron's siblings and parents were dead and his grandfather passed away, the properties were technically Cameron's even though he was considered dead which brought Debra to her next question.
"So are you dead? How are you still functioning and drinking coffee for that matter?" Debra asked Cameron, he shifted slightly in his seat and shrugged.
"It's complicated, but I'm only undead and half dead. I can still breath, talk, walk, and see but I don't need sustenances. I only drink coffee because it's my favorite drink, I don't have to consume it but I like to anyways." He replied casually and set his cup on the table.
"How about the whole taking off your limbs thing? Does it hurt?"
Cameron shook his head and took it off his own neck. "This logic defies all supernatural explanation but I rarely do it as to not scare the locals." He explained and placed his head back on. Debra laughed a bit, this was quite an interesting sight to see.
"Can I ask you something? How are you so precise about burial? Was it something you learned when you were younger?" Debra asked and Cameron shrugged.
"Well when I was eighteen that's what my grandfather taught me was for accurate burial sizes with coffins and sarcophagi. It sort of became a life long habit after I helped him measure the hole size for burials." He remarked and Debra nodded, she was fascinated by this.
"How about your super strength?"
Cameron thought for a moment and shook his head. "I don't know actually, I've had it ever since I came out of the ground and it's been helpful with work."
"So it's more like a tool?"
"Yeah something like that, any more questions Miss Merich?" Cameron looked at her with a bit of disdain. She shook her head, "no sir," and Cameron nodded as he stood up and took her cup up.
"You hungry?" He asked and Debra nodded quickly. "Yeah actually, I'm starved."
She stood up with him and followed him to the kitchen. "I hope you'll be fine with Swedish meatballs then" Cameron said as he took off his jacket and gloves so he'd get ready with supper.
