___________________Crashes, gunshots and loud banging was the only thing heard from the used to be quiet house. Little Liam who used to be playing video games in the game room was now holding a pocket knife hiding in the closet.
His mother who was watering the flowers was now crawling on the floor, blood dripping from her ears as she tried to find a safe space.
But truthfully there was no safe space—they were everywhere.
His friend Andre, who had just moved there three months ago was now dragging his foot along with him as he tried to keep up with Liam.
Liam didn't notice it before, but he was bleeding too. The heavy adrenaline and shock rushing through his body. The explosion hit nearly everyone. Andre was trying to hold in his groans of pain while Liam's shaking hand held the knife.
He wanted to protect his friend. Andre was different than everyone else at school. He was a transfer student from London and even Andre's parents were nice. They let him come over to play games and chill.
"I know your in there! Just come out—and we'll have a talk." Liam frowned his eyebrows slightly trying to translate it. But when he did, he eyes widened as he recognized the voice of his uncle Martin.
Why is he there? Is he going to save us? Liam thought, reaching for the door knob but what he saw was something no nine year old should see.
"Liam! Hello—are you listening?!" Juliette said, snapping her fingers in Liam's face. He rapidly blinked his eyes, coming back to reality. He eyed his pack of cigarettes and leaned forward quickly lighting one and breathing in the toxic air.
Juliette sat on the bar stool next to him in the large modern kitchen. It was now Monday and Liam still couldn't get Izabela nor Andre out of his head. The reasons why were swirling around in his head.
He still couldn't help but feel guilty for being the reason that Andre has stacks on stacks of medical bills. He offered to pay but—Andre threatened him to take his money elsewhere.
"Yeah, I'm listening....kind of." Juliette rolled her eyes. "This is serious Liam. You need to focus!" Liam stared blankly at his sister, taking a drag from his cigarette. "Anyways, mom flew in this morning and is now setting up her flower shop over in Ravenscourt. She called me this morning saying she needs us to help her." Juliette said, glaring at her brother who most certainly was only paying half attention.
Liam let out a groan, he wanted to take Izabela out again but it looked like his mother needed him. And who was he to say no to her.
"What time?" Liam asked, getting up from the bar stool. Juliette shrugged her shoulders. "She never said. I'm guessing she wants us to just show up." Liam nodded firmly and walked away entering his large living room.
