Saad could finally feel the happiness of winning a case wrapping around him in a cocoon of success. He’d waited too long for that feeling. He hadn’t taken on another case other than Kubra’s. And he had finally accomplished in attaining success in that.
No matter what Jamal Bajwa said now, what false evidences he brought forward, how much money he bribed to the judges, he couldn’t get away with it now. Saad had him by the balls. Yes, it had been possible with Yusuf’s and Huma’s help. But he alone had been the one who had never ever given up on Kubra. He could gloat about that without a doubt. In front of the whole world and his world.
He contemplated how he would break the news of Jamal Bajwa’s sentence to everyone as the jury took time to decide on his punishment. If things were to go his way, it would be a public hanging. But unfortunately, those didn’t happen anymore.
Should he go all grand with flowers and hearts and the fairytale moment? He knew Kubra loved those. But he also knew she would just be happy with a kiss and truth. Choices he was all too happy to decide from for the first time.
~ Flashback ~ After Kubra accepting Saad’s proposal ~
It was the morning after she had barged into his home and given his life a different kind of meaning by accepting his proposal. Saad had spent the entire night watching her, asleep in his arms as they both cuddled on the couch.
He couldn’t believe after loving her for so many years, she was finally his. He could hold her and cherish her and love her and never let her go. He was so overwhelmed with emotions, he wasn’t surprised to find his eyes filling with moisture.
Bringing his hand from his waist to her face, he removed a lock of her hair which seemed to glow like amber in the sunlight streaming through the window. Rubbing her cheek with his hand, he brought his lips to her forehead, not being able to believe that she really was now his.She stirred in her sleep, mumbling something incoherent, and then went on to bury her head in his chest. Saad was almost too tempted to wake her up so he could again read eyes which he knew would tell him how much she loved him. But then he also knew she deserved the sleep.
He didn’t have to rein in his temptation for too long, for she stirred again, and this time, opened her eyes, blinking a few times against the light.
“Good morning, my princess,” she smiled as he kissed her forehead again.
“I’m sure princesses don’t wake up with a bird’s nest on their heads, superman. But Good morning to you too.” He smiled while she stifled a yawn and again tried to hide in his body. “I want to sleep again. Let’s sleep again!”
“As much as I would love to fulfill your wishes, your highness, I need to make sure you eat breakfast.”
She sighed dramatically and then, suddenly reinvigorated, stood up, pulling Saad along. “Okay, come on! Then we have to go calm my mother. She must be worried when she didn’t find me in the morning and then-”
“Don’t worry, love. I told your father you had panic attack last night and came to me.”
His thoroughness brought the smile on her face which he could also take a life for.
“Okay, so feed me, Superman! Because later, you’re going to go talk to my father about one more thing.” She was holding both his hands in hers and bouncing back and forth.
“Uh-huh? And that is?”
“Set the date for our marriage!” She nearly shouted, causing him to wince.
