background— when the avengers together finally broke, a determined steve rogers is forced to find both witnesses and possible soldiers to fight alongside him on the brink of a civil war amongst the "earth's mightiest heroes." desperate throughout his search, steve must resort to his final option— a retired SHIELD agent, former avenger, and old friend who had gone MIA after the battle of sokovia and was never heard from again. lyra jeong, known to the public as "the phantom," is a powerful being that uses her mind as her only weapon. with the ability to lift and shatter things at her control and seaping into the memories of every being, her power is easily both feared and envied. after she recklessly caused numerous casualties at the battle of sokovia, she fled the scene and ignored every call from her team. when lyra is miraculously confronted by a distraught steve rogers and a few of his allies, she finally backs down and lends a helping hand to fight against an idea she was once a part of in order to redeem herself. along the way, she left people in awe at the way she could toy with the world and with people's
minds, especially james barnes who knew what it felt like for his mind to not be his.

EXTRA!

— i hadn't really planned lyra's homelife before joining shield, so i'm leaving that completely up to you. she could've been taken as an experiment (under shield), for her powers or whatever you want to do!

— the "big thing" that happens at the battle of sokovia is up for your interpretation as well. i'm thinking she was trying to get the upper hand onto ultron using her powers past the extent she ever had before, but it backfired and whatever she was trying to do just killed a whole bunch of citizens. the reason she fled was because growing up she never really felt like a hero, she was just a girl who was cursed with the power to destroy and always hear the memories of people that she had no right to hear

— although she's INCREDIBLY powerful, please make her have weaknesses. if she pushes herself too hard, she will physically or mentally get ill until she learns to control her powers better

— i ask that the book start in civil war and include infinity war & endgame, but whatever flashbacks and AU's you do is totally up to you

— i'm lowkey feeling a love triangle of her and steve and buck???

— i think after the civil war, she's kind of anti-hero. she tries to act indifferent so maybe it can help her detach from sokovia

RELATIONSHIP NOTES !

— these two are literally traumatized for various reasons, this isn't going to be a quick relationship it's going to be a hard slow burn but so worth it

— lyra tries her absolute hardest to stay away from bucky's mind because she knows he needs to let himself actually have his mind to himself for once. i do think it would be awesome tho if at one point he's relapsing back into the winter soldier and she has to get into his mind to make him snap out of it

— once they start opening up to each other a bit tho i think they would be so cutesy. like this is them tbh
