As the group was preparing to leave the restaurant, Yiyi's manager reached for the bill, ready to pay. However, Yiyi intervened, explaining that she had answered his phone while he was in the washroom because the CEO had called looking for him. The manager, hurriedly excusing himself to attend to the CEO's call, left without paying the bill.
Yiyi then took the bill from the waiter and settled it herself. Her colleagues, feeling it was unfair for Yiyi to bear the cost, offered to reimburse her their shares. But Yiyi, with a smile, insisted on covering the entire bill, suggesting they consider it her promotion party. Her colleagues thanked her warmly, though they also felt a bit guilty about leaving her with the expense due to the manager's oversight.
After leaving the restaurant, Yiyi sent a message to Momo, informing her that she was heading home and to let her know if there were any changes to their plans before she arrived. Yiyi's home is conveniently located near her office, allowing her to walk to and from work daily, which helps her save on transportation costs. Living alone, Yiyi is diligent about her savings, setting aside funds for emergencies, much like the unexpected restaurant bill. Although the bill was a bit over her budget, her careful saving habits allowed her to manage the expense without too much strain.
A few minutes later, Yiyi received a message from Momo saying that she would come directly to Yiyi's home and asked her to order some food and ice cream. On her way home, Yiyi ordered food and ice cream for both of them. At the restaurant earlier, Yiyi couldn't eat much because the items on the menu were not to her taste.
Upon reaching home, Yiyi freshened up. She heard the doorbell and the delivery boy's voice, asking her to take the food. Since her hands were covered in soap, she told him to leave the food at the door. After rinsing her hands, she brought the food inside, put the ice cream and desserts in the fridge, tidied up the house, and got ready for dinner.
Soon after, Momo called Yiyi, asking her to come downstairs as she had some luggage. The girls carried a few packages to Yiyi's home and settled on the sofa to rest. Yiyi, puzzled by the sight of the boxes, wondered how Momo managed to go shopping when she was supposed to come directly from the office.
Yiyi: "You were supposed to come from the office, right? Why did you bring shopping bags and boxes?"
Momo: (while drinking water) "Ask my father. He told me to come to his office, and when I got there, I saw a few investors with him. They wanted to collaborate with us on their products. They even brought some goodies with them. Since they know about my influence, they brought these items for me to rate for sponsorship."
Apart from being a fashion designer, Momo is also an influencer. She gives feedback on multiple products and has a huge follower base. She even has her own team to manage these tasks, a venture she started back in college.
Yiyi nodded, understanding the situation. "Ah, that makes sense. Well, let's get started with dinner. The food and ice cream are waiting."
The girls settled in for a cozy evening, enjoying their dinner and catching up on their respective days.
A few days later, Yiyi was diligently working on some plans in her office when she suddenly heard a voice demanding, "Where is the manager?"
Startled, she lifted her head and was surprised to see Li Chen standing in front of her. She had anticipated their paths crossing eventually, but not so soon, and certainly not in her office. Uncertain of her manager's whereabouts, as he typically only appeared when necessary or to reprimand someone, she glanced at her colleagues for any clues, but they all seemed equally clueless.
