Jennette was the heroine of the novel 'The Lovely Princess' — the very story you were thrown into. Jennette de Alger Obelia was meant to become the Princess of Obelia and receive the love of the heartless emperor.
It was a simple plot, really. The novel didn't adopt a complicated plot.
And the main plot isn't supposed to start in another nine years, where Jennette finally interacts with Claude during the debutante ball. From there, everything was supposed to fall into place.
Jennette's happy was supposed to start from there—
Athanasia.
That name fell upon Roger's lips and you froze. Of course you knew who Athanasia was.
In this current timeline, Athanasia was a princess he ignored. But then Roger bursts through the door of Jennette's room and pulls you out in a panic.
"What? Why are you panicking?" you eyed Roger as he panted. He made the mistake of muttering Athanasia's name in Jennette's presence, and you were already of thinking of things to say in case she asks you about Athanasia, "Be careful of what you say around Jennette—"
"The Emperor...!" he spat out loudly before correcting himself and lowering his voice, "...The Emperor has acknowledged the Princess Athanasia's existence!"
That was not supposed to happen.
She was never acknowledged. Not in the novel, at least. And if this world exists because of that novel, then she shouldn't have been acknowledged here either.
So early on, too.
"He...what?!" you exclaimed.
It was stated that Athanasia was nine years old when she first met Claude. She's supposed to be five at the moment. What was going on with the story?
What about Jennette? The protagonist? Your niece? What would happen to her? To you?
Your future already looked dark for the mere fact that you were Penelope Judith's sister.
You looked back at Roger with wide eyes, "Where did you hear that from? Did someone report to you? They could've been mistaken."
