The reason why Jennette was given a magic ring that could change the appearance of her eyes at a young age was to avoid rumors of locking her up in the Alpheus Mansion. Of course, she still couldn't go outside as often as the other kids because of the time limit the ring had, but you always made an effort to bring her out whenever you could.

Thankfully, the jewelry store she frequently visits, Margarita, was owned by you.

As Jennette looked through the several designs of jewelry available, with her father, Claude, in mind, the ring shut itself down. She was too busy weighing her options for a possible gift for Claude's upcoming birthday that she didn't notice how long she had left.

And you were busy too busy dealing with merchants and business partners to notice her immediately too.

"Auntie!" you heard Jennette's voice call for you.

Your eyes glanced over to where she was, expecting her to show you what she chose to give Claude, only to find her dashing to the storage room with her hands covering her eyes. You saw a faint glow coming from the ring on her finger, and you immediately understood the situation.

The time limit.

You turned back to look at your clients with a smile, "Then, please continue to look around and approach one of our staffs once you've decided. Excuse me."

Without waiting for a response, you ran after Jennette inside the storage room. You found her crouched down on the floor with both her hands covering her head.

"Jennette," you called out her name. You approached her carefully, "Did you choose—"

"I'm sorry!" she cut you off, "I-I was distracted. I was too focused on choosing a gift for His Majesty that I made a mistake. I'm sorry—"

You were trying to avert the conversation to something you knew she liked (read: Claude) so that she wouldn't cry or apologize like this, but it seemed like you failed.

You lowered yourself down to her height, "No, no! No one's mad at you. You don't need to apologize either. I was the one who asked if you wanted to come along with me today after all."

"Yes, but I got careless—"

"Jennette, you're still a child," you told her softly as you placed a hand on her shoulder, "Being careless, being too excited, or being too fixated on something — that's normal. I'm not going to scold you for that. I've never scolded you for something like that, and I never will."
