No one had spoken a word until we had stepped off the monorail. Even then, it was only Gray who had continued speaking, sharing more facts and asking hypothetical questions, and occasionally adding in directions to the Gyrosphere attraction. I was thankful that we could just listen to him ramble on rather than having to talk after what happened on the way, but it could only go on so long before one of us had to crack.
The V.I.P. line is short at the Gyrospheres, so it wasn't going to be a long wait upon arrival. While Gray was droning on, I absorbed the sights of the island that were granted to us away from the bustling of the main park. I've never really ventured far outside of the raptor enclosure, and the island truly was beautiful, it was a shame I never explored some more of it.
A giggle had pulled me back to my place in line, and out of the corner of my eye I could see Zach giving fleeting glances at a small bunch of girls waiting in another line. Once I noticed, I had no way to stop the pang in my chest that I really had no business feeling.
Gray noticed this too, but decided to embarrass him, and smirked.
"What do you thinks gonna happen by you just staring at them?" Gray asked his brother rather loudly, making perfectly sure the girls could hear. They started giggling again and got into their Gyrosphere. Zach's cheeks were tinted pink, a hand on the back of his neck.
"Thanks man." He said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Your welcome." Gray replied cheerfully, ignoring his brother's tone and smiling to himself at the success of his scheme as I laughed quietly to myself.
Since there were no three-seater Gyrospheres, I had to squeeze in next to Zach since Gray insisted he would be too claustrophobic. Scrambled limbs and awkward apologies filled the space and the silence while we departed from the loading station.
As the safety video with Jimmy Fallon was playing, we calmly drove over plain, grassy hills with absolutely no dinosaurs in sight.
"Where are they?" Gray asked. We climbed over one last big hill and suddenly there were tons of dinosaurs everywhere.
"Whoa." I said. As we were driving through the fields, the screen that previously showed Jimmy Fallon was now saying "all Gyrospheres please return to the station. The ride is now closed."
"Uh guys, we should go back." I said uncertain.
"I'm sure it's fine. Besides, we have V.I.P. passes, we can stay out for a few more minutes." Said Zack.
"Wait, what's that?" Gray asked pointing to a large gate. It was open. It's looks like it was opened by force.
"Dude, off road. Come on, let's go check it out." Zach started moving the vehicle toward the open gate.
"Guys, that's not a good idea."
"And why is that?"
I put my hand on his arm. "I don't know. What if something's really wrong?"
"Don't worry, nothing's gonna happen. Besides, I just want Gray to have the full Jurassic World experience." he smiled.
"Zach, I'm telling you, I grew up in this park, and I know for a fact that is not supposed to be there. This is a very bad idea," I told him sternly.
"Keep it down, you don't want to scare Gray, do you?" He gave me a look, knowing that he was the one thing that would make me give in. I admit, I have a soft spot for the smart ass.
So I reluctantly agreed.
"Fine, but only for a few minutes." Zach reveled in his victory, took the controls and steered us through the gate, my anxiety growing every inch farther we went.
