Outside of whatever cringy high school i decide to stick them in even though they are full-grown adults:
"Look there he is!" Jimmy's ears perked up anxiously as he spotted the figure in the distance. Joel rolled his eyes enormously while Grian and Lizzie chortled. Tango, Cub and a new kid were approaching quickly, heading to lunch. Jimmy was frozen, only his tail wagging slightly.
"H-Hi Tango!"
"Hey guys!" Tim looked affronted that Tango hadn't addressed him directly, but he shook himself off, his ears wobbling slightly.
"Where are you going?" Timmy demanded anxiously.
"Um, it's our lunch block. We were going to head to the cafeteria," Tango said, confused at Jimmy's nervous behavior.
"Oh, you like to eat... I mean who will you eat.... I mean..." Grian and Lizzie grinned harder than ever, biting their lips to keep from laughing, and Pearl was quivering so hard that she almost burst from trying not to laugh... but Joel was silent. He was gazing, awestruck, at the new kid, who was returning his gaze quizzically. The boy was tall, with a shock of stark white hair kept out of his face with a headband, making him look like a character from one of those anime shows that Joel was obsessed with. Well, besides the fact that it was dotted with reds, greens, and purples that looked have come from firework powder. Grian elbowed Joel, who blinked rapidly before turning his gaze to the floor, embarrassed. The boy glanced somewhat desperately at Cub and began to walk away.
Meanwhile, Jim was making even more of a fool of himself, and by now was a deep shade of chartreuse. He fiddled with his hair worriedly and shuffled his feet, desperately attempting to draw attention from his garbled speech.
"Well... we'll be seeing you around, I guess," Tango broke in quickly, saving Tim from saying any more. Tango jogged to catch up with his friends, waving over his shoulder at awestruck Tim, who was glued in place with his hand raised in parting.
"Oh no," Tim groaned. "He's bound to think I'm a fool now"
"Well, you are a fool! He has plenty of reason to think so!" Grinned Grian, tussling his younger cousin's hair. Pearl squeaked out the breath she was holding and nearly collapsed from laughter.
"Why were you staring at the new kid like that Joel? Did you know him?" Lizzie asked, shouldering her friend. Joel looked up, and expression of terror and embarrassment plastered on his ashen face.
"Ah, it's nothing really. Just looked like a kid I used to know. Back in- uhhhh- elementary school. Couldn't have been him though, he- he moved away ages ago. Why?" Grian was the one to roll his eyes now, as he looked quizzically at the awkward Joel.
"Don't tell me you're going to turn into Jimmy. All we hear about is 'Tango, Tango, Tango' but they can't even have a conversation without Tango fleeing!" Timmy pinned his ears at Grian, who shrugged. Lizzie turned to Grian with a laugh.
"Can't say you're much better?"
"What are you talking about?" Grian snapped, defensive.
"Well, we'll see, won't we?" Lizzie said, before shoving Grian into a passing student.
