Megan was amused.
She had been prepared to curse out whoever had bumped into her. The last thing she was to see Beyoncé on the ground gazing up at her in horror.
Maybe she will still curse her out.
"Megan?!?"
Beyoncé looked like she had just seen a ghost. She had no idea what the honey blonde was doing here in her city and her local grocery store but the confusion on Beyoncé's face was funny enough for Megan not to care at the moment.
"Hi, Beyoncé."
Without a second thought Megan picked up her basket and walked past the frantic woman on the floor. She had errands to run and she didn't wanna hear anyone's mouth about her taking too long.
As she walked down the aisle she heard the quiet thumps of footsteps getting closer and closer until she felt a tap on her shoulder.
You tell a bitch hi one time...
"Can I help you?"
"What are you doing here?!? You can't just say hi to me and leave like this is normal!"
Megan rolled her eyes as she counted down from ten in her head to stop herself from cussing the shorter woman out.
"I'm from here if anything I should be asking you that question."
"I'm from he-"
Megan put her hand up and promptly cut Beyoncé off.
"I don't actually care and that's all my politeness for one day."
It had been a long three months for Megan and she still hadn't forgiven Beyoncé for what she did to her. To Megan the conflict was very simple. Anyone who wanted a future with her and cared for her would never disrespect her or downplay her emotions. Beyoncé had done both. The damage was done and Megan had no intention of ever forgiving those actions. It just wasn't who she was.
A back and forth with Beyoncé wasn't something that Megan wanted. These last few months had led to a lot of growth on her part. She didn't want to admit it in the beginning but she had really liked Beyoncé and the girl had become and would remain a key moment in her history. It was her attraction to Beyoncé that had made her finally admit that she liked women which was no easy feat.
Isolating her tough feelings and storing them away in little boxes in the back of her mind was the way Megan had dealt with all her troubles for as long as she could remember. Beyoncé became the first issue she couldn't just pack away and ignore.
It was difficult and uncomfortable but she was eventually able to recognize that the root of all her confusion towards Beyoncé, the root of why her betrayal pained Megan so deeply, was because Beyoncé forced forced Megan to confront herself. All her pettiness and deflection was all a way to protect herself from getting emotionally invested in that captivating woman when she suspected it would only end in her being hurt.
Which somehow happened anyway.
Luckily Megan had lovely people around her to help manage the pain when everything started to feel too raw. They had jointly decided that being around Beyoncé wasn't worth all the bullshit. Megan didn't hate the woman that stood in front of her, but she didn't care for her either.
She left Beyoncé standing in the aisle and walked off to pay for her items. Now that she knew Beyoncé was around she wanted nothing more than to get out of that store as soon as possible.
As Megan entered her car she called up her closest confidants.
"Hi beautiful," Reneé answered flirtatiously.
