I try to write down everything we've done so far in an orderly manner, putting down the times of the calls, video calls and messages. Even when we found the envelope with that strange letter. I still get chills just remembering it. It's hard for me to look at it.
I'm then surprised by Eric's call. Maybe he's found something? Or maybe Adam has contacted him.
In any case, I answer the video call. As always, it's all dark around him.

"Hi Eric,'' I greet him when I see him. "Everything okay? Any news from Adam?''

"Yes, everything is fine,'' he answers as I see that he is moving, "no news from Adam, but I was also calling to see if you knew anything, since I left my phone for a moment...''

Vega is still working, making a slight sound. He is not close to his position yet.

"You would have seen my message saying that he called me, don't you think?'' I ask him, arching my eyebrows, as if I were telling him the most obvious thing in the world.

"Yeah, sure, sorry,'' he laughs, looking to his left side.

"Did you call me because you still feel watched?''My concern for him at least hasn't vanished.

He lets out a sigh and looks at me again.

"No― Well...''I wait for him to continue, I notice he's nervous "I also wanted to know how you're doing.''

"Oh, well I'm making notes for when we find Adam and ask him everything important.''

"At least one of us knows how to focus our thoughts,'' he answers tiredly. "I have so many questions in my head that I don't know how to sort them out.''

"You're lucky to have me then,'' I smile at him and he laughs.

     "I guess so.''

He looks up, I guess he's looking for the area without spikes.
I watch him, trying to keep him company. If that at least calms him down, I'll be there for him.

"So... everything okay with the group?'' I look at him a little confused. "I mean... no problem? You haven't felt pressured or uncomfortable?''

"Honestly? No,'' I shake my head slowly. "Even Ash and I have already buried the hatchet, so everything is under control.''

"That's good,'' I see him smiling and looking nervous, "I mean, for you, because I don't think it's best to keep arguing, knowing that Adam is in trouble.''

"Eric, calm down, I understood you perfectly,'' I sound as calm as possible, but I can't help but smile maliciously, "don't run into the fence while you walk.''

He looks at me in a bad way and closes his eyes as if I had said something bad. At least, a little humor doesn't hurt to forget that you feel watched.

"Tell me, why did you decide to call me and not your friends?'' I ask, settling myself more comfortably on the couch and raising my legs.

"That's exactly why, because they're my friends,'' he answers, quickly looking at the fence. "If I call Ash, she'll be scolding me for coming, if I call Violet, she'll be asking me all the time if I'm okay and telling me to be careful, and if I call Charlie... Well, it's one of the best options, but he'll try to convince me that he has to come with me and we'll argue about it because I don't want to endanger anyone.''

I nod, understanding the situation. The truth is that they're quite curious friends, but at the same time they're not bad people... For now.

"And why are you calling me?''
