Jane

I was finally through with my work. I could finally beg for food to eat. I struggled to get up from the floor. I picked up the bucket of water and rag I had used to clean the Alpha's office and turned to leave. This was the twentieth time I was cleaning it, today, thanks to Luna Cassie. Weak and dirty, I turned to leave the office, only for Luna Cassie to walk into the room.

"Jane, what's this? Why can't you do a simple job? Why are you so useless?" she complained. "This room looks a mess—"

"But, this is the twentieth time I'm cleaning it," I said, tears welling up in my eyes. I haven't had anything to eat, since morning. I was hungry, tired and sleepy.

"I do not care, Jane. All I want is a clean job," she said, and as quick as possible, grabbed the bucket of water from my hand and poured it on the floor.

Tears streamed down my eyes, as I imagined how I was going to reclean the room. I could barely move my muscles. My back was on fire. My ribs were going through a lot of pain.

"By the time I am back, let it be you have done a good job, Jane. You know how I can be? I don't want to be wicked to you, so just clean up this mess. Your father won't be happy if he sees this," Luna Cassie glared and turned to leave.

I was starting to feel dizzy. I rubbed my eyes and crouched down, to start cleaning over again.

"What's going on, here?" That was my Dad's voice.

I looked up and stared at him. How could I possibly tell him that his wife messed up his office which I had just finished cleaning? He'd never believe a single word I say. Especially if it's against his wife, son and daughter.

"I'm recleaning, father. I slipped and the water poured on the floor," I lied.

"Useless and weak, that is what you are Jane. There's no difference between you and your mum."

My father had left my mum for Luna Cassie, because my mum couldn't give him a son and because my mum had gotten wolfsbane. But that was not the only reason. He had hated my mum and having a striking resemblance with my mum, only made him hate me more than anything.

"Come here, Ethan," my father yelled.

It only spelled doom. My brother was in charge of beating me up and bullying me.

"Yes, father," Ethan responded, as he approached my dad. He glanced over at his right and saw me. His eyes were a ferocious mask and I prepared myself for what was to come.

"I'll leave Jane in your hands. Make sure she gets done with the cleaning of my office," father said to Ethan.

"Alright, Father," Ethan said, and shot me another threatening look.

"Father, please, I will do the job," I cried out, but my voice was nothing but a whisper.

"Not another word, Jane," Ethan growled.

"About the party, tonight, how's the preparation going?" Father asked, as he came to a halt.

"It's going, well, Father."

"Did Alpha Xander accept our invitation?" Father inquired.

I couldn't help but recognize that name. Alpha Xander had taken over his Pack, at the age of nine. This was something that had never happened in the whole Werewolf Kingdom. He was the first man to ascend the Alpha's throne at such a young age. Normally, every son of an Alpha were meant to take over at the age of sixteen. The fact that Alpha Xander could rule his Pack at that age marvelled everyone. And according to rumors, he had ruled the Pack with an iron fist. He was never scared of anyone and he had made decisions for his Pack, the Ocean Shadow Pack. And this day, the Ocean Shadow Pack was the biggest and most feared Pack in the werewolf kingdom.
