Jane

If only I could tell Alpha Xander that my father was only after his Pack. If only I could convince him not to accept the deal. But, I just couldn't muster up the courage.

"Now let me make it clear to all of you, I won't be staying for the party but I'll be coming back to this Pack, tomorrow to accept and finalize the deal. I want to find her in a good condition. Otherwise, I will break off any deal that was supposed to form between our Packs. Not just that, I will take your Pack as an enemy Pack and that will have a lot of influence on other Packs, because they'd start breaking off whatever deal they made with your Pack. You know what I am capable of doing. I will make sure I stop at nothing to bring you down and I will take your Pack from you," Alpha Xander said, vaguely and fiercely. "Do I make myself clear to all of you?"

"Yes," my father spoke up, with a fake smile.

"She's our family. You can't tell us what to do with her," Ethan snapped from where he was, with his half broken nose.

"Be quiet, Ethan," my father said and turned to face Alpha Xander. "I promise you, I won't let anything happen to Jane."

Alpha Xander turned to me and bent down and smelt me. "There's something about your scent. You smell—"

"It must be her dress," my father interrupted.

That was nothing but a lie but I didn't say a word. I dared not.

Alpha Xander stepped backwards, taking a last glance at me, he turned around. "I shall see you all, tomorrow. Have a nice party."

I watched him leave and all of a sudden my hands began to shake, same with my legs. I could feel shrivelled sweat on my face. Now, what was going to be my punishment? Another round of beating? Would they send me back to the dungeon and starve me for another day? Would they make me do more house chores? Oh, Moon goddess. I was completely nervous.

Ethan moved closer to me and grabbed my hand. "Thank the Moon, you got saved today. Just consider today your lucky day. After the deal is sealed, you'll have me to contend with," he snarled.

"Beta Logan, take her to a good room for her to rest. Give her some new clothes and food to eat," my father instructed. "Enjoy it while it lasts, Jane."

I couldn't believe my ears. I was finally going to change this ugly smelly dress of mine and eat good food. I was finally going to sleep on a bed. It's been years since I slept on a bed or ate good food. Last seven years, my mother found out about my dad's Mistress, Luna Cassie. She became heartbroken when my father said he was going to reject her and take Luna Cassie as his chosen mate. She had cried and pleaded with him not to reject her. My father had given her a condition to follow him to his new Pack and become the personal maid of his new mate. My mum couldn't believe his condition. She refused it. Grandma Gwen was sick and my mother couldn't leave her behind.

I was only twelve years old, then. Being separated from my mother was the most painful thing that ever happened to me. When I moved to this Pack with my father, I realized that my father and Luna Cassie had known each other for so long and I had elder step siblings, Ethan and Freda. And they had all made my life a living hell ever since that day.

"Come with me," Beta Logan said, grabbing my arm.

He led me into a room. "I will get you fresh clothes. Go on and take a shower. You stink so bad. Eww."

I got into the bathroom and took off my clothes. The last time I had a bath was three days ago.

I stood under the shower, as fresh water cascaded down my skin. Finally.

I washed my body, thoroughly.

I finished taking a shower and came out of the bathroom. I saw a clean dress laid on the bed. I took it and wore it. I couldn't smell well but I could tell I wasn't smelling bad anymore.

"Your food," Beta Logan said, dropping it on the table.

"Thank you," I said and take the food.

"I wonder what he sees in you. You're just an ugly weakling. Does he even have any idea you have been demoted to the place of an Omega in this Pack?" Beta Logan murmured.

I sat down and began to eat, rapidly. I was so hungry. I shoved the food into my mouth and digested it with juice. Thank you, Moon goddess for sending a savior to me, I prayed silently.

"Can you stop eating like that?" Beta Logan yelled.

I didn't realize he was still there. I knew he only wanted me to say a word, so he could use it to bully me. But, I wouldn't. I would rather enjoy this meal while it lasted.

"You're lucky Luna Cassie is at the party, you wouldn't be eating if she was here," he sneered and turned around and left.

He was right. Luna Cassie was the most heartless of all of them. And I feared her the most.

I finished eating. Beta Logan came back to clear the dishes. I was the only maid in the Packhouse. I did everything except preparing meals for everyone.

I laid down and before the word 'Jack Robinson', I dozed off.

...

The next day;

I blinked my eyes and yawned. I quickly jumped out of bed when I realized it was morning. I was supposed to be working. I rushed out of the room, only to see Luna Cassie approaching me. "Good morning, Luna Cassie."

"Tell me the truth. How is it possible that Alpha Xander noticed you instead of my own daughter? What did you do?"

"I did nothing, Luna Cassie," I said, fear gripping me.

Luna Cassie stretched out her hand to hit me. I closed my eyes, bracing myself, ready to feel the burn.

"I wouldn't do that I were you," Alpha Xander's voice rumbled through the room.

Peeking through slits, I see Alpha Xander's hand coiled around Luna Cassie's wrist.

"Jane, how are you?" His husky voice asked.

"Good morning, Alpha Xander. I'm fine," I mumbled.

He let go off Luna Cassie's wrist. "No one touches Jane, again. Whether in my presence or not."

Alpha Xander sniffed me.

Why?

"Something is strange."

"Good day, Alpha Xander. I'm glad you came. Please come to my office," my father said, after coming out of his office.

"You are coming with me, Jane," Alpha Xander said, and started walking to my father's office.
