It was a Saturday afternoon and Tsukishima had just finished reviewing his notes like the diligent student he was. He decided to treat his hard work with some strawberry shortcake from his favourite café.
When he went inside, the worker greeted the regular and gave him a slice of his usual. As he turned from the counter to grab a seat, he noticed Mitsuko with a familiar young boy with a shaved head. She wasn't wearing her glasses so it took a second to recognize her. He figured the kid must be her nephew. He debated saying something to them before that decision was promptly made by the young boy.
"Hey, that's Kei-nii, right?" The boy exclaimed, taking Tsukishima aback.
"Taki! I told you that's not how we address people." Mitsuko scolded him.
Tsukishima approached their table, his plate in hand. He had a growing smirk on his face from hearing that the boy knew his name.
"Hoshiyama-san, I didn't know you talked about me." He said with that shit-eating grin.
She rolled her eyes. "Don't give me that look. Kazune babysits with me too sometimes and they like to gossip together."
"But didn't you say Kei-nii was the cool, smart guy from the volleyball club, Mitsuko-nee?" Takeru blurted out.
"Hm, is that so, Hoshiyama-san?" Tsukishima chuckled.
Mitsuko glared at him.
"Grab a chair and eat your silly little cake so we can speak at eye level." She gestured to a chair from a nearby table.
He laughed but obliged, sitting between her and Takeru. The young boy tilted his head as he stared at Tsukishima.*
"Taki, this is Tsukishima Kei. You should address him as Tsukishima-san." She advised him gently.
"Why not Kei-nii? That's his name." Takeru asked out of genuine curiosity.
Mitsuko responded patiently. "Because that's too informal. We don't use people's given names unless we're close."
"Okay...sorry, Tsukishima-san." He said, bowing his head slightly in apology. "My name is Oikawa Takeru."
"Nice to meet you Takeru-kun." Tsukishima replied before turning to Mitsuko with a puzzled look.
"Nee-chan wanted her kids to keep the Oikawa name." She shrugged and then took a sip of her coffee.
"Hmm...I see." He said before turning to the boy. "Takeru-kun, you have sisters right?"
The boy nodded. "Mmm, two little sisters. How did you know?"
"I saw a picture of you guys with your mom in Hoshiyama-san's apartment." He mentioned nonchalantly.
Takeru turned to Mitsuko. "You're right, he is a stalker."
Mitsuko laughed while Tsukishima was baffled.
"There's a difference between being observant and being a stalker." Tsukishima defended himself.
"Only a stalker would have to point that out." Mitsuko teased.
Tsukishima cleared his throat. "So what else have you heard about me?"
Takeru tapped his chin a few times with his finger, trying to think.
"You're a middle blocker, right?"
Tsukishima nodded. "That's right."
"Are you the one that's bad at volleyball?" He asked innocently.
