Shortly they arrived, in Lilith's cottage. There was a garden of flowers and lots of variety of leaves and bushes. There was a kid waiting at her door. A little boy with a blue hat.
"Lilith! I need your help!" The boy cried. Lilith quickly went towards the boy.
"What is it Julian? Is it your father again?" Lilith asked as she opened the dark oak door. "Peo, can you put Perry over there. Thank you." She said and Peo entered the door along with the kid named Julian.
"Yes, I'm scared Lilith. He keeps on getting worse and worse every single day. We've been trying your herbs but it is not enough to keep him recovered." Julian said with a tear on his eyes. Lilith frowned as she put a hand on his shoulder.
"Julian, I promise I'll find the cure soon, those herbs I gave were only supposed to prevent it, I just hope it could buy me more time before I could find that flower." Lilith said and the boy hugged him.
"Please do hurry." Julian said while he sniffed and wiped his tears.
"I'll give you something, I hope it will help more to relieve your father." Lilith said and went to her cabinets. There were bottles of herbs, liquids, and powder. She searched and looked from every cabinet until she found a leafy green herbs with a white flower. "Here, boiled this herbs, like a tea and give it to your father to drink it. Only at noon and night." She said and Julian took it. "Hurry on now and be careful, I have to treat Perry's wound." She said.
"Why? What happend to Perry?" Julian asked and went to Perry who's lying on the carpet with a pillow on his head. Perry cried in pain, Lilith rushed to him with her kit. She took off her cloak revealing her long icy blonde hair, and raised her sleeves. She quickly removed the bandages and proceed to treat him.
"We were attacked by bandits while we were looking in the forest. Luckily Peo was there to help us." Lilith said as she removed the bullet on Perry's thigh. Perry cried and barked in pain. "I'm sorry Perry, you'll be fine, honey. Just a little more." she said as she proceed to gently treat him. Julian stared at Peo with an eyebrow raised.
"Are you a she-man? You look cool." Julian said and suddenly his eyes widened. "Woah, are those knives!?" Julian said astonished when he lifted Peo's cloak. There were daggers on her belt.
"Don't touch that, Little boy." Peo said warning him. The kid looked at her with his mouth wide open while looking at Peo from toe to head.
"Thank you Lilith, I have to go now." Julian said and went to the door. "Get well Mr. Perry." He said and left as he closed the door. Peo watched as Lilith put a bandage on Perry's thigh after putting some herbs.
"Lilith, what were you looking for in that forest?" Peo asked as she sat on the couch. Lilith stood up as she went to get some blankets and put it on Perry as he sleep. She slowly caressed his fur as he sleep.
"I'm afraid, it might be a myth to find that flower. But I have a strong hope to find it until this happened to Perry." Lilith said as she watch Perry sleeps, his eyes close and snored softly-he loves being caressed while he sleep. "It's called a Selenethia, a moonlight flower that can only be found in that forest at night when the moon is at it's peak." She said as she looked at the window where the moon glows. Peo stood up and went to the door. "Leaving already?" Lilith asked as she looked at Peo at the door with her arms crossed watching Lilith.
"So this is Cattlebury if I'm not mistaken, and you're the only herbalist in town?" Peo asked and Lilith nodded.
"I'm afraid yes. And it will only be a matter of moments before this town turn into an epidemic." she said as she sighed. "Just a couple of days ago, one of the farmers went to the same forest, somehow he ate some mysterious fruit because of hunger. He went back, his skin was blue, his eyes were purple and he was coughing blood. Unfortunately, he was gone after. But then a day later, after his funeral. A few people who were in contact with him got sick. I haven't seen this kind before. Not even in the books I read nor my studies until I saw that only book about the Selenethia." Lilith said As she stood up and went to Peo.
"Thank you for saving us back there." She said as she looked at Peo's green eyes. Lilith noticed the silver brooch of an owl. "An owl? What is that for? I haven't even asked, are you an assassin?" Lilith asked.
"It's nothing you should be concern of." Peo said and was about to open the door. "Lilith, it's dangerous out there in the forest. I'll be your guard and help you at night." Peo said and looked at Lilith in her eyes. Those ocean eyes she had drown into.
"No, I can do i-"
"It's an order, Lilith. If you want to be alive in that forest and help to cure your people, then I must be here to protect you. Knowing Perry's condition you barely stand a chance out there." Peo said as she opened the door and faced Lilith once again, looking at her from toe to head. She smirked as she ridiculed Lilith's small frame.
"But-"Lilith was cut off when Peo put his index finger on Lilith's lips.
"Besides, I am an 'owl' afterall." Peo said as she smiled, leaving Lilith confused with what was that meant for. The moon shone through Lilith's eyes, it was beautiful like sapphires. Peo removed his finger from Lilith's lips as she moved her icy blonde hairstrand to her ear. She smiled. "I can't stay here for the night, I'll be back tomorrow at dusk." Peo said as she slightly touched her chin swiftly and she looked back. Lilith facing Peo's back as Peo slid on her hood.
"Thank you, Peo." Lilith said softly with a smile on her face.
"Wait for my return, Lilith."
With that said, Peo vanished to the shadows as Lilith stood at her door searching for Peo's shadow. The wind blew her icy blonde hair as she watched the moon. The night has been a miracle, leaving wonders in Lilith's mind. Like a fairytale that has yet to be written.
