Three months later:
"King Anthony, we have an urgent message from the Admiral!"
"Let him in please."
The messenger entered the throne room.
"What is the message?" Asked the King in curiousity.
"The Admiral says they have lost a warship at the unexplored island. And when they went to investigate, the ship was sunk, and there was dead decaying corpses of soldiers, all along the beach."
"Thank you messenger, tell the Admiral to fall back to the Kingdom."
The messenger bowed and left the room.
"Get me the guard Captain!" The King yelled. Five minutes later...
"What is it your majesty?"
"I want more soldiers, more guards on the castle walls, and Martial Law put into effect. There's a threat of war on the horizon."
"Of course sire."
Th King mumbled to himself. How did this all happen? The next day the King had received word of an angry mob terrorizing the city.
"What in the blazes is that bloody noise!?" Screamed the King.
"There's an angry mob in the city sire. They are angry about Martial Law."
The angered King, half asleep, walked down the halls, and to the balcony overlooking the courtyard in front of the palace. Hundreds of people were there, and they were angry.
"I know you people are angry. I understand you are angry about Martial Law! But understand this, there is a threat out there, a threat that is so dangerous, it killed over 200 of my men, and sunk a warship. Martial Law was put into effect for your safety! Go back to your homes! Stop your screaming and rioting! For I already have enough pressure on my shoulders!" And with that, the king stepped of the balcony. This King had never been in a war, previous Kings in his family have, but never him. He wasn't ready. But he had an advantage. The giants did not yet know where his Kingdom was located. Therefore, gives him more time to gather resources, strategize, and prepare for what was ahead of them.
