SELENE POV

My brows scrunch together in deep thought, every corner of my mind says things can go back to the way they were.

She is free to leave as per our deal, but some part of me keeps insisting there should be something more to it.

Somewhere along the way, I started enjoying everything, and deep down, I regret doing it, but it is what it is.

We feel what we feel.

After moving Elijah from the hospital to his house, I don't know what to do.

It is clear, but I still want to keep things the way they are when I know it's wrong, but selfishness takes over me, and I know I have to do something if I want her.

Collecting my thoughts, I get out of the car, making my way inside, closing the door behind me a bit loudly so she can know I'm home.

It takes me half an hour to shower and change into something comfortable. As time flies, I feel myself getting hungry.

Walking to the kitchen, I hear something, so I pause and try to listen carefully, but I hear nothing. I take a few steps, then again, the same voice fills my ears, making me stop once again.

I look up to find no one in the kitchen. Moving towards the fridge, I open it, taking out the leftover pizza.

As I heat the pizza, the delicious smell fills the kitchen, and my stomach growls in response.

I take out a chair to sit on it when my eyes fall under the table, Ocean looking at me, not me, of course, the pizza.

His tongue sticking out as his eyes shine, making him look extremely cute.

"So you were making that noise, hmm," I say to him, but he keeps ignoring me.

"Where's your owner? Is she sleeping?" I ask, realizing I'm talking to a dog who probably won't answer, not because he can't, but because he won't.

"We can eat together as long as you won't tell anyone." He looks up, wagging his tail in approval as I offer him a slice in front of him and start eating mine.

After eating, I walk to my room, but Ocean keeps following me like the lost puppy he isn't.

I stop, and he stops as I look at him. I take one more step, and he follows me again. I look at him, sighing to myself.

"What do you want now?" I ask him, but he keeps wagging his tail, jumping on me as he looks up.

"You wanna go out?" he jumps again, sticking his tongue out.

"I'm tired, I can't take you outside right now," I say to him, but he keeps looking at me.

"Fine, man, let's go," I sigh, walking towards the door, putting on his leash.

I open the door but stop when I hear footsteps coming downstairs.

Looking back, my gaze falls on Freya, looking hot as always. The loose t-shirt barely covers her smooth thighs, leaving them exposed for my eyes to feast upon.

Her long, toned legs are barely hidden beneath the fabric, leading up to her hips and the hint of her curvaceous shape.

Her exposed cleavage is visible through the thin material, adding to the tantalizing sight. Looking up, her eyes narrow at me like she is about to say something she is not sure about.

"Where are you taking him?" she asks, her voice straight as she crosses her arms.

"I'm not taking him anywhere; he is taking me outside," I answer dryly as I open the door further, but her voice fills the air once again.

"I don't trust you," she says, but I don't look at her.

"Then don't," I say as I hear footsteps coming closer to us.

"Take me with yo—" she says, but I cut her off, knowing what she's going to say next.

"No!" I say as I turn around to look at her, trying not to look down.

 "Why?" she asks in anger.

"Because I said so." Her fists clench as a smirk plays across my face.

"Please...," she pleads, of course, that's what I thought.

I roll my eyes, looking at her as I stretch out my hand towards her, and her brows furrow in confusion, and then it hits her, and her expression goes blank in disbelief.

She looks at me, and I can't help but roll my eyes again.

I turn around to walk outside, but she grabs my hand as I smirk but deny to look at her. Her hand feels soft in mine, but i brush off the thought.

We get out, walking side by side, and Ocean walks happily, his tail wagging excitedly, and his happy grin is infectious.

Walking down, I take them to the park near our house, grabbing her hand tightly even though there is no one around; I still feel the need to be close to her.

Ocean plays in the park as we both sit on a bench. It feels extremely weird to sit with her like that.

Watching him play in the park, a small smile appears on her face that surprises me.

I didn't know if she could ever smile for anything I'll do, but it felt different to see her smile.

I won't say I'm happy to see her smile, but yeah, I wasn't tired anymore.
