MEGAN POV

As I make my way to the car, my hand hovers over the door.

My heart races when I feel a sudden presence behind me, causing me to look over my shoulder.

The silence echoes in my ear as I take a deep breath, realizing it was just my imagination.

I open the car door and slide inside, resting my head on the seat as I let out a sigh.

A voice interrupts my thoughts, making me gasp in fear and cover my mouth with my hands.

My eyes land on the person in the backseat, causing my heart to drum in my chest as I try to calm my breathing.

"Guess I scared you," he says with a smirk on his face.

"What do you want?" I ask, my breathing slow.

The man smirks in response, causing my eyes to widen in fear.

"You."

ELIJAH POV

The phone vibrates in my hand as I look at the clock, it's 5 pm and I don't know where Freya is.

I came home and she was gone, unsure if she isn't ready and I'm rushing things or if she just doesn't want anything.

But her eyes tell a different story.

The door opens as Freya walks inside, her eyes meeting mine.

I stand up and wrap my arms around her, rubbing her back, but she doesn't hug me back.

My brows furrow as I pull back slightly to look at her, but she remains silent.

She pulls away without saying anything, leaving me standing there looking at her.

Her calm face annoys me because of how calm she is.

"Freya, are you upset with me? Because I left you like that," I say as I reach for her hand, but she pulls away before I can.

"Elijah," she says, looking at me.

This isn't going to be nice.

Her eyes convey something different as she speaks.

"I think... I think I'm not ready for the relationship, I'm sorry," her words reach my ears in slow motion.

I let out a sigh, taking in her words.

"Freya... it's alright, baby. We'll go slow. We'll do as you say," I say, my voice barely a whisper.

"I'm sorry... but I can't keep doing this," she says as I absorb the determination in her voice.

"We should give us a chance, Freya. I promise I'll be nice," I say as she grabs her stuff.

Regret sinks in as her gaze meets mine.

I didn't realize I was so desperate that she would leave me like that.

I just wanted us to be happy, didn't know if she didn't want that.

"I'm sorry Elijah..." she says before shutting the door behind her as I sit down on the couch.

Different things running through my mind as I palm my face.

She left me. Maybe I'm not perfect, maybe I made her feel like I was trying to force myself on her.

But I wasn't. I just wanted to make her feel better. I just wanted to love her.

My phone vibrates, looking at the screen.

My eyes widen as I read the text and video from the unknown caller ID.

My jaw clenches as I rub the back of my head.

I stand up from the couch, feeling a mix of anger and betrayal coursing through me.

How could she do this to me? How could she betray my trust like that?

A chuckle escapes my mouth, I look at the video as I take a deep breath, my grip gets tighter on the phone, I throw it beside me.

I could never have thought Selene would do that to me, but come on, who are we talking about?

Selene does whatever she wants, but now I'll play her own game.
