an hour later the doctor did some tests and they would be back soon with the resultsAlone in the dimly lit waiting room of the hospital, Lucy sat huddled in a corner, her hands trembling with fear and uncertainty. She send him home after he returned she would call him later but she needed some alone time his absence a heavy weight on her heart. She told the doctor she wanted to know it alone, afraid of tims reaction, afraid of the disappointment that awaited her.
As she waited, the minutes stretched into eternity, each second echoing the thud of her heartbeat in her ears. The door creaked open, and the doctorentered the room his face already told her what she was scred for. Lucy's breath caught in her throat, her hands clenching into fists as she braced herself for the news.
"Lucy," the doctor's voice was gentle, yet laced with sorrow, "I'm so sorry, but the baby did not make it. Tears welled up in her eyes, threatening to spill over, but she held them back, a wall of numbness settling over her heart.
Alone in her grief, Lucy felt a surge of guilt and shame wash over her. How could she face Tim, her rock, her love, with this devastating truth? Would he blame her? Would he turn away from her in anger and disappointment?
As she made her way back to the room, Lucy’s steps slowed down. She pushed open the door, her eyes meeting Tim's gaze, filled with a mixture of concern and confusion. The silence between them was deafening.
Tim's voice, when it came, was soft, barely a whisper in the stillness of the room. "Lucy, what happened? Why didn't you tell me?" His eyes searched hers, seeking answers, seeking solace in the midst of their shared pain.
Tears spilled down Lucy's cheeks, her voice choked with emotion. "Tim, I was scared. Scared of disappointing you, scared of facing this alone. I didn't know how to tell you..." Her words trailed off, lost in the depths of her sorrow.
Tim's expression softened, his arms reaching out to envelop her in a warm embrace. "Lucy, you never have to face anything alone. We are in this together, no matter what. Our love is stronger than any tragedy, stronger than any loss."
In that moment, as they clung to each other, Tim's support, his love shining through the darkness, gave her the strength to face the pain and uncertainty that lay ahead.
And so, in the quiet of the hospital room, Tim and Lucy found love in each other's arms.
