As i'm sitting in the cafeteria with my friends and best friend Carter I spot the new guy Elios waking to the cafeteria alone, I met him in my class today and he's a really nice guy so we became friends.

"elios!!" I shout out to him.
He looks at me and I wave him over.

Once he comes closer I say "come sit with us"

"are you sure? i don't want to intrude" he's so nice and sweet.

"no don't worry you're not intruding"

As he sits down with us everyone introduces themselves and start talking about random topics, I try to include Elios as much as possible.

Suddenly I feel Carter get up and leave so I excuse myself from the group seeing they've become instant friends with Elios.

I find Carter in the hallway beside his locker.

I go up to him "hey carter what's wrong?" I ask quietly, worried about him.

"nothing" he grumbles.

"oh cmon, just tell me" I say.

"do you not like me anymore?" he asks.

What is this absurd thing he's saying "what do you me-" he doesn't let me finish my sentence.

"are you trying to replace me"

"you barely talked to me today, it was all elios this elios that"

"do you even care about me?!"

I start laughing like full on hyena laughing.

"fine if you're just going to laugh at me then i'll leave" he huffs and goes to leave but I hold him back.

"one, of course i still like you, two, i would never think of replacing you, three, i was only trying to include elios because he's new and would've been too shy to say something if not directly asked for the first while, four, of course i care about you.... more than anyone" I say all this in one breath.

"really?" he looks so vulnerable it makes me wanna cry.

"yeah really"

"so you don't wanna play with his hair instead of mine? or hold his hand instead of mine?" he asks.

"of course not, i love your hair too much to betray it like that" I joke.

"oh so i'm just your best friend because of my hair yeah?" he teases.
I'm glad to see he's back.

"who said you're my best friend in the first place" I tease back.

After joking for a bit I hug him.

I hug him tightly and whisper -while playing with the hair at the nape of his neck- "i love you"

He inhales deeply before whispering an "i love you" back.

"now don't ever think that way again okay?" I say it nicely so he doesn't suspect when I, "ouchh, what did you do that for", pinch him.

I start laughing my evil laugh and tell him "this is so you never doubt me again or i'll really replace you"
