My best friend James and I are sitting next to each other on the bus for our field trip with the school.

We just got in and I can tell how tired he is from the slight sleeping bags under his eyes and his overall demeanour.

I know that he hasn't been sleeping well lately but he doesn't want to talk about it so i'm trying not to pressure him.

I'm really worried about him though.

He gives me a tired smile and sits beside me, directly laying his head on my shoulder and closing his eyes.

I smile softly at him and try to even my breathing so I don't bother him.

We've been moving for less than 10 minutes and he's already asleep.

I give him a forehead kiss and feel giddy as I notice him smiling in his sleep.

Once there's only 5-10 minutes until we reach I decide to wake him up.

I run my fingers through his hair trying to wake him up gently.

"james"

"jamie" I repeat.

"hmm" he only hums while burying his head into my neck.

"we're almost there, you gotta wake up"

"i don't want to tho" he whines.

"i know love, i know, but you need to okay?"

He shakes his head, wrapping his arms around my waist, basically laying on top of me.

"i'll get you whatever you want" I try to persuade.

He shakes his head once more.

"i'll do whatever you want" I try once more.

"i want you to be my girlfriend" he mumbles.

I'm instantly happy but I don't want to get my hopes up incase this is just the sleep talking.

"whatever you want" I say.

He gets up and we soon reach our destination.

Later on, after we're back, he looks at me and smiles wildly.

I look at him like he's crazy but he just keeps on smiling.

He suddenly says "you're my girlfriend" with the brightest smile.

I look at him and ask "you were serious about that?" , I try to seem nonchalant incase he wasn't being for real.

His smile instantly drops and I feel horrible.

"why? don't you actually want to be my girlfriend?" he says looking heartbroken.

"of course i do" I say hurriedly.

"really" he's back to smiling wildly.

"really" I confirm.

He ends up coming to my house for a sleepover where we watch movies and talk about everything.
