Father's Day dawned with a bright, sunny sky, and the house was buzzing with excitement. Lizzy and Ashley had been up early, planning a special day for Austin. Lorelei, now a curious and lively toddler, had been in on the surprise as much as a two-year-old could be.
As Austin slept in, Lizzy quietly slipped out of bed to start breakfast. She had planned all of Austin’s favorite dishes, from pancakes to crispy bacon, and the smell wafted through the house. Ashley arrived with Jacstin, who was eager to help celebrate his uncle.
Lorelei toddled into the kitchen, her tiny feet padding on the floor. Lizzy smiled and scooped her up, kissing her chubby cheeks. "Ready to surprise Daddy?" she whispered.
Lorelei nodded, her wide eyes sparkling with excitement. She held a handmade card tightly in her little hands, a project she and Lizzy had worked on together.
With breakfast ready and the table set, Lizzy and Ashley brought the kids to the bedroom. They tiptoed in, Lorelei holding the card, and Jacstin carrying a gift wrapped in bright paper.
"Daddy, wake up!" Lorelei’s sweet voice rang out as she climbed onto the bed, her small hands patting Austin's face.
Austin stirred, a smile forming on his lips before his eyes even opened. "Good morning, my little angel," he said, his voice thick with sleep. He sat up, pulling Lorelei into his lap. "What's all this?"
"Happy Father's Day!" Jacstin and Ashley chimed in, followed by Lizzy.
Austin looked around, his heart swelling with love. "Thank you, everyone."
Lorelei handed him the card, which was covered in colorful scribbles and stickers. "Daddy, for you," she said proudly.
Austin took the card, his eyes misting up as he opened it. Inside, there was a photo of him and Lorelei, and a sweet message written by Lizzy, with a few added scribbles from Lorelei. "Thank you, sweetheart," he said, hugging her close.
Jacstin handed him the gift, a big smile on his face. "Open it, Tintin!"
Austin tore into the paper, revealing a photo frame. Inside was a picture of him, Lizzy, and Lorelei, taken during a family outing. "This is perfect," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "I love it."
They all moved to the kitchen, where the delicious breakfast awaited. They ate together, laughing and sharing stories. After breakfast, they headed to the living room, where Lizzy and Ashley had set up a small area for Austin to relax. They had planned a fun day of activities, including a trip to the park and a special family picnic.
At the park, Lorelei and Jacstin ran around, playing on the swings and slides. Austin and Lizzy watched them, holding hands and enjoying the simple joy of their family time.
Later, during the picnic, Lizzy handed Austin a small box. "We have one more surprise for you," she said with a smile.
Austin opened the box to find a pair of tiny shoes. He looked up at Lizzy, confusion turning to realization. "Are we...?"
Lizzy nodded, tears in her eyes. "Yes, we're having another baby."
Austin pulled her into a hug, his heart overflowing with happiness. "This is the best Father's Day ever," he said, kissing her gently.
As the day drew to a close, they returned home, tired but happy. Austin tucked Lorelei into bed, reading her favorite story until she fell asleep. He then went to Jacstin's room to say goodnight, giving him a big hug.
"Goodnight, Tintin," Jacstin said, grinning up at him.
Austin ruffled his hair. "Goodnight, buddy."
Back in the living room, Austin sat with Lizzy, Ashley, and Jack, reflecting on the day. "I couldn't ask for a better family," he said, his voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you for making this day so special."
Lizzy snuggled closer to him. "We love you, Austin. Happy Father's Day."
Austin looked around at his family, feeling incredibly blessed. He knew that no matter what the future held, they would always have each other, and that was all that mattered.
