I look down at my phone again, double checking if I was at the right location. The unknown number had messaged me, claiming to have all the answers to my questions and to meet that at this location. I was currently standing in front of a casino that was swarmed with IPC members in and out the building.
Remembering what Boothill said about about the IPC wanting to hunt me down, I kept my guard up and entered the building. This seemed like where the IPC's official spot for their stay here. I glanced around, not knowing whom to speak with, where to go or what to do. "you must be Y/n." A smooth voice sounded from behind me.
I spun around and was met with a tall man in a green suit. He had long blonde hair and the most beautiful coloured eyes I'd ever seen. He smirked at me and bowed slightly, "You're just as beautiful as Doctor said." I frown cautiously and take a step back, "uh- hello...do I know you?"
He grinned at me, "of course not. I'm Aventurine. I work with your previous partner, Ratio." I hum and observe him. He was obviously wearing expensive clothing and jewelry. His watch alone looked like it'd cost my life savings and more. His eyes were a pretty colour that seemed to have a glint in the dim room.
The name Aventurine suddenly rung a bell in my head, that's the guy Veritas told me about. Although he was described as annoying, he didn't seem to be that way. He just looked...smug, and cunning. Like he was knew something that no one else did. He held out his hand for me to take, which I refused and he hummed, "Veritas didn't say how...feisty you were. I like it."
Before I could respond another voice entered the fray, "stop bothering her Aventurine. You wanted to talk to her, not scare her away" Veritas walked out from behind Aventurine and smiled at me, although it did not reach his eyes. "Hello Y/n" He looked the same as I last saw him, a bit sad but the same. "Hello Veritas.."
Aventurine clasped his hands together with a sly smile, "now that formalities are out of the way, why don't you follow us hm? We should go somewhere...quieter. To talk." He gestured for us to follow and I glanced at Veritas, still hesitant to go. Something about this wasn't right, it didn't feel right.
Veritas just gave me a small smile and nodded in reassurance, "let's follow him." I followed both men to...where ever they were taking me. It seemed a bit farther from where the main area in the casino was, it was also darker, with fewer people and fewer people the further we went. Suddenly, Aventurine entered a room and we followed.
In the room there was a table with a few chair around it and a light over it. On one end, there was a cabinet and a green potted plant next to it. "Come, have a seat." Aventurine invited brightly. I entered the room and sat on a chair at the table, behind me I heard the door close and click lock. Before I could look behind me,, Aventurine sat on the opposite chair from me, placing his elbows on the table and grinned at me.
Veritas did not sit, he instead stood behind Aventurine in the far end of the room, observing the cabinet. "So, Y/n, I should probably give you a proper explanation for the meaning of all this." Aventurine begun. I bite my lip and stutter out, "yes please. This is all so sudden and I'm getting bad feeling about this..."
His expression darkens slightly before returning to his usual one, "Yeah sorry about that. Anyway, I called you here to talk about you. Your past and why the IPC wants you. I'll also answer any question you may have." I fidget with my hands under the table and glance at Veritas behind Aventurine but he wasn't looking at us. weird.
I nodded and raised my hands, "okay, continue." He clasped his hands, "great. The IPC simply just wants you dead. You were supposed to be a slave branded by them but, you escaped. Resisting to the IPC results in dead but you got away. Thus, you have a bounty, though it might not be big. It's still there. I'm actually surprised you haven't realized by now, probably Veritas's doing. "
I tilt my head in confusion but remain quiet so he could continue. The leaned back, "Its not uncommon for the IPC to have slaves, I was a slave once but I made a name for myself. Unluckily for you, if you get caught it just won't be pretty. You'll either be killed or used. I wouldn't know the specific details but yeah."
I frown, "if the IPC wants me, how have I not been captured yet?" He chuckled and points his thumb behind him, "while you were with the Doctor, he kept the IPC's eyes away from you. " I look down in my lap, we were together so long and he never said anything about it to me? "Thank you Veritas." I say but he just stares at us, looking guilty. I still find it odd but he was probably annoyed at Aventurine.
Aventurine chuckled darkly and stood from the table, quietly pacing around the room. "The IPC also wants to use you as bait for someone who has been a pain in our side for years now. That space cowboy. Your husband perhaps? They want to use you to kill him. He's been causing so much problems for us but he's skilled and hard to catch. But with you, maybe he'd be lured."
I frown, I may not favor Boothill right now but I definitely don't want him dead. If he died this time, I'd actually lose my mind. I avoid eye contact with him, "I don't know who you're talking about." Aventurine was suddenly next to me, his hand slamming on the back of my chair, startling me. "do NOT lie to me Y/n. I already know everything. Even about that child the IPC terminated, unfortunate isn't it?"
My blood boiled but I kept quiet. He was a dangerous man and I had no idea what he could do. Right now, I wished I listened to Boothill, maybe I wouldn't be in this uncomfortable situation. Aventurine turned to me again, moving some of my hair from my face, his finger tracing my cheek bone. "Do you know where he is Y/n? If we knew where he was, I'd get the IPC to let you go."
I close my eyes and exhale shakily, "no...I do not know where he is. " Aventurine sighed and stood behind me, "well thats a shame. Looks like we'll have to resort to the old plan." As his words registered in my head, it was too late. He snapped his fingers and shackled appeared on my wrists. My heart hammered in my chest, "what are you doing? No! Let me go!" I shouted at him but he ignored me.
He walked up to Veritas and smiled, "it was a pleasure doing business with you Doctor. As always." Veritas just hummed and left the room, not even sparing me a glance. Tears welled in my eyes and I cried out ot Aventurine, "why are you doing this to me?" He chuckled and walked up to me, "well You're not with Doctor anymore so therefore, you no longer have the protection. I'm free to do whatever I like."
Then he placed a cloth over my nose and mouth, it was most likely soaked in something so I had no choice to inhale it. He grinned, "I know we're only in the dreamscape so I can't get you right now but in your room, there are IPC guards as we speak. Once you're forced awake by this, I'll come meet you in reality. Don't worry darling, you're in good hands."
Suddenly, I was gasping as i found myself in the hotel room for permanent residents, like workers etc. Sure enough, there were four IPC members in my room, pointing guns at me, "don't worry miss. Mr. Aventurine will be here shortly." One spoke.
"Oh how I wish I listened to Boothill" I thought to myself.
omg hey, been a while. I was gonna update earlier but i got sick LMAO. How'd you think it went? It was kinda rushed so i forgot some important parts but ill put it in the next chapter. This book might end up being shorter than I expected but oh well, I'll just get to start the aventurine story sooner. OMG AND I WANNA WRITE A WIND BREAKER FF WITH TOGAME OR UMEMIYA BUT UGH NOT YET.
