Another night had passed for the young soldier. Her time was ticking, and she had made little progress on her mission. Elixabeth woke up to Bubble shouting outside the tent. Her voice, a powerful force, cut through the morning air, sharp and commanding, leaving no room for hesitation.
"I want to see full energy from you guys! To your positions! Eyes forward! We are patrolling this morning! Now move!!" Bubble's voice coarsely echoed across the small village.
Elixabeth sheepishly got out of her sleeping bag, her eyes adjusting to the blinding light outside of the tent. Her fumbling caught the attention of Bubble, who just sent her troop to patrol the perimeter of the small village.
"Look who's up!" Bubble greeted. She jumped off of her small pedestal and landed in front of Elixabeth. Her eyes lit up with joy as Elixabeth's face faintly sparked a bit of energy compared to when they first met the day before. "I see you had a well-rested night! Come on, let's go check up on Eca. My partner got back from her expedition; she should be tending to Eca at the infirmary now."
The two made their way to the infirmary. Beyond the front door, there was Eca, sound asleep under the pale turquoise covers. Her brows wrinkled as she took a glimpse of the sleeping male. Elixabeth traced her sight; there stood a young woman, working on the desk.
The clanking glass caught the attention of Elixabeth. Her eyes lit up with awe as the woman worked proficiently with the medical herbs. She took out the freshly foraged herbs from her bag; a strong oaky and grassy scent filled the room as she prepped her ingredients. It was a relaxing scent.
Bubble walked straight to the woman; her bubbly voice welcomed the return of her partner while wrapping her arms around her neck. The woman's face painted a rather dismissive look, seemingly bothered by the sudden visit. Her hair was livid navy blue, and she wore a signature white coat; those worn by doctors and researchers. She had a pair of dark visors, purposely hiding her eyes from being seen by people.
"Zestar! I see you got loads of treats this time around!" Bubble cheered. "This is Elixa! Another one of the Skytopians!"
Zestar nonchalantly looked at Elixabeth. Her eyes scanned from top to bottom; inspecting the brunette.
"A soldier, I see. Nice to meet you." Zestar started. "As you can tell, my name is Zestar. I used to work up there before, as a medic; but I quit, thinking there were better things I could do." Her monotone voice blankly filled the room as she talked.
"Hey doc, how's he doing?" Bubble asked.
"Major stab wound and two broken rib bones, I have a better alternative for his recovery. It should be ready in no time." Zestar answered.
"That is why you are the doc here!" Bubble smiled with glee.
"There are still alterations that I have to work on. Would you mind caring for him for me for a while, young lady? Start with cleaning parts of his upper body." Zestar ordered.
"Clean water is by the back of the house and a bucket right there, feel free to use anything." Bubble smiled, pointing at the corner of the house. "I will be waiting outside for you. You can't possibly go anywhere without your trusty guide."
Elixabeth smiled weakly; her gaze bored onto the empty bucket lying on the corner. Bubble went outside with a soft bang on the door, leaving Elixabeth and Zestar in the house, with Zestar focusing on her apothecary. Elixabeth unwillingly grabbed the bucket and walked out of the house. She stumbled under the scorching sun, only to get water from the back.
The tap on the wall dripped water as Elixabeth put the bucket under the tap. She turned the knob, and large splashes came gushing out of the pipe, filling up the bucket. She looked into the pristine water, seeing herself in the reflection.
