In the beginning, y/n's life wasn't so bad. No ones family is perfect. That's understood is her mind but she'd do anything to get back to where things were. When everything didn't seem so bad, even if then, that wasn't great either.

Y/n always felt like she had a clearer mind when she was younger. Almost as if she could see and understand things better, despite her age. Some people call that maturity, to her it's a curse.

She grew up in a shady trailer park in Indiana. Her mother didn't care for her much, leaving y/n to do many things on her own. Y/f/n was a hard worker, he cared for his family more than y/m/n ever could. But when the family was all together, everything seemed okay. They were happy.

The hard times would only come up when y/m/n couldn't find a job, after losing another one. Or when y/n's dad worked too many hours for y/n's mother to bear. That's when arguments and fights broke out. Growing up she never wanted to fall in love (she never expected to either).

Thankfully things got better when she became a pre-teen. Y/m/n kept a good job for sometime, enough for them to move to Cherry Lane rd in Hawkins. It was a nice home too. They only moved about an hour away from where they were. That meant a new school, but y/n didn't mind. Since her family seemed to be getting better.

If unexpected moments didn't happen in someone's life, would it really be a life? Y/n definitely didn't expect her fathers passing. She was too young to have to endure the pain. She missed her dad more than anything because now that he was gone, forever... they could never he happy again. That's what it felt like. Y/n's mother only made her worries more clear.

Y/m/n threw herself into pills. It was an escape for her, an addictive one. Y/n took care of herself, way more than she had to when she was younger. Honestly y/n liked being able to do her own thing. Even though her mother was irrelevant and it made her insanely alone. When y/m/n didn't make herself known, it was better that way. If she did, there was always a problem. An argument, fight or issue would occur. She literally had to tiptoe around her own mother. The only parent she had now.

It was a rare occurrence, maybe once a month but rarely would y/m/n ever hit y/n. It's happened many times now, after the few years since y/f/n passing. Y/n hated and blamed herself for it. For the pain and suffering her mother caused her. Which only made it worse for y/n. She experienced crazy depression, isolation and loneliness. It was too much for a young teen. She's already going through puberty, alone and now the worst heaviness on top of it all.

So, y/n threw herself in school. While her mom was either addicted to drugs or working more than anything, y/n went to school and tried to do anything but be home. She had many friends, tried out for sports and clubs. Y/n was popular and well known. She didn't care too much about grades but did it for fun. And honestly, it made everything better for her. At least she felt important somewhere.

Once y/n found courage to care more about her own being, she glowed up a bit. Perfect timing for junior year as well. Guess puberty helped on that part yet, she changed her hairstyle, applied light makeup and accessoried her edgy look. She was even more popular than she was before. She may not be some preppy cheerleader, but she was herself.
