After acing an assignment, I decided to treat myself to breakfast at the Two Whales Diner. I had heard good things about the place and was eager to try it out. The morning sun was still low in the sky as I made my way there, the air crisp and refreshing. As I entered the diner, the aroma of coffee and sizzling bacon greeted me, instantly lifting my spirits. The diner, with its classic decor and friendly atmosphere, felt like a slice of nostalgia, a comforting reminder of simpler times.

I found a booth near the window and sat down, glancing around at the mix of patrons. There were regulars who seemed to know everyone, a couple of truck drivers enjoying a hearty breakfast, and a few students from Blackwell scattered around. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with the soft hum of conversations blending with the clinking of dishes. I ordered a hearty breakfast, looking forward to enjoying a quiet meal.

As I sipped my coffee and waited for my food, the door jingled, and to my surprise, Chloe walked in. She spotted me almost immediately, her eyes widening in recognition. With a smirk, she sauntered over to my booth and slid into the seat across from me.

"Well, well, if it isn't my favorite new Blackwell student," she teased.

"Chloe," I greeted her with a grin. "Are you stalking me?"

She laughed, a genuine sound that made her eyes sparkle. "You wish. What brings you here so early?"

"I thought I'd treat myself," I explained. "What about you?"

"Couldn't sleep," she admitted with a shrug. "Figured I'd grab some breakfast."

We chatted casually as my food arrived, Chloe stealing a few fries from my plate as we talked. It felt easy and natural, like we'd known each other much longer than a couple of days. There was a connection forming, one that intrigued me and made me want to spend more time with her.

After a while, I decided to take a playful jab. "You know, next time you want to see me so bad, you should just text me."

Chloe raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Oh yeah? And how am I supposed to do that without your number?"

I smirked, hoping my plan would work. "Well, you could always give me yours."

She rolled her eyes but pulled out her phone, typing something quickly before handing it to me. "Here. Now you have no excuse."

I entered her number into my phone, feeling a thrill of excitement. "Thanks. I'll be sure to use it."

"You better," she replied with a grin. "Alright, I gotta head out. Catch you later, Y/N."

"See you, Chloe," I said, watching as she left the diner. My breakfast suddenly seemed even better, knowing I had a way to keep in touch with her.

Later that evening, I sat in my dorm room, trying to focus on some homework. My phone buzzed, and I saw a text from Chloe. My heart skipped a beat as I opened it.

Chloe: Hey, it's your stalker. What's up?

I chuckled, quickly typing a response.

Y/N: Not much, just trying to get through this homework. You?

Chloe: Same. Bored out of my mind. Got any plans for the weekend?

Y/N: Not really. Was thinking of exploring Arcadia Bay a bit more. Any suggestions?

Chloe: Tons. We could hit the beach, check out the lighthouse, or just chill. Your call.

Y/N: Dealer's choice.

Chloe: Cool. I'll pick you up Saturday morning.

Y/N: Looking forward to it.

We continued texting, the conversation flowing easily. Chloe's messages were a mix of sarcasm and genuine interest, and I found myself smiling more with each reply. It was clear that beneath her tough exterior, she was someone who cared deeply about the people she let into her life.
