The morning of our wedding dawned with a soft, golden light filtering through the curtains I lay there for a few moments, savoring the tranquility before the day began. Chloe was still asleep beside me, her hair spread out on the pillow, a serene expression on her face. I reached out, brushing a stray lock of hair away from her forehead, and felt a rush of love and anticipation.
Today was the day we had been planning for months, the day we would finally become husband and wife. The lighthouse and the beach, places that held so many memories for us, would bear witness to our vows and the start of our new life together. And at the end of it all, we would move into our own home, a place where we could build even more memories.
Chloe stirred, her eyes fluttering open. When she saw me, a sleepy smile spread across her face. "Good morning," she murmured, her voice thick with sleep.
"Good morning," I replied, leaning in to kiss her gently. "Happy wedding day."
She laughed softly, a sound that filled me with warmth. "I can't believe it's finally here."
"Me neither," I said, feeling the weight of the day ahead. "But I'm ready. I can't wait to marry you."
We lay there for a few more minutes, savoring the quiet before the chaos of wedding preparations took over. Eventually, we got up and started our day, each of us heading in different directions to get ready. Joyce had arranged for a hairdresser and makeup artist to come to the house, and they would be arriving soon to help Chloe and me look our best.
As I showered and shaved, my mind raced with thoughts of the ceremony and the reception. I wanted everything to be perfect for Chloe, to show her how much she meant to me and how grateful I was for her love and support. I knew there would be moments of nervousness and stress, but I was determined to make this day one that we would both cherish forever.
When I finished getting ready, I made my way downstairs to find Joyce already bustling around the kitchen, preparing breakfast. The smell of fresh coffee and pancakes filled the air, and I felt a pang of hunger. Joyce looked up as I entered the room, her face lighting up with a warm smile.
"Good morning, Y/N," she said, handing me a mug of coffee. "How are you feeling?"
"Nervous, excited, a little overwhelmed," I admitted, taking a sip of the coffee. "But mostly just really happy."
She nodded, her eyes filled with understanding. "That's how it's supposed to feel. Just remember, today is about you and Chloe. Everything else will fall into place."
I nodded, grateful for her words of wisdom. Joyce had been a rock for us throughout this entire process, and I couldn't have asked for a better mother-in-law.
As we sat down to eat, the hairdresser and makeup artist arrived, setting up their stations in the living room. Chloe appeared a few minutes later, looking radiant even in her casual morning attire. She gave me a quick kiss before being whisked away to start her transformation.
I finished my breakfast and headed upstairs to put on my suit. It was a simple yet elegant outfit that Chloe had helped me pick out, and as I adjusted the tie in the mirror, I felt a sense of pride. This was it—the day I had dreamed of, the day I would marry the love of my life.
When I came back downstairs, Chloe was still getting ready, so I decided to take a walk outside to clear my head. The morning air was cool and refreshing, and as I strolled around the yard, I thought about everything that had led us to this moment. The struggles, the triumphs, the love that had carried us through it all. It had been a long and sometimes difficult journey, but it had brought us to a place of happiness and hope.
The time had finally come to head to the lighthouse for the ceremony. Friends and family had started to arrive, their cars lining the driveway and the street. There was a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation in the air, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest.
