The sun had finally broken through the persistent gray clouds, casting a warm glow over Arcadia Bay. I decided it was the perfect day to explore the town a bit and pick up some essentials to make my dorm room feel more like home. After yesterday's events, a little retail therapy and fresh air seemed like a good idea.

As I stepped out of the dorm building, I felt a slight breeze and the warmth of the sun on my face. It was refreshing, a small reminder that things were starting to look up. I had a list of things I wanted to buy: posters, books, maybe a couple of plants to brighten up the room.

The walk into town was pleasant. Arcadia Bay had a quaint charm to it, with its small shops and friendly faces. I passed by Two Whales Diner, its neon sign flickering invitingly. I'd heard it was a popular spot, and I made a mental note to check it out another time.

My first stop was the local bookstore, The smell of paper and ink greeted me as I walked in, and I immediately felt at ease. I browsed through the shelves, my fingers grazing over the spines of various books. After some deliberation, I picked out a few novels and a poetry collection. Reading had always been a great escape for me, and these books would be a welcome addition to my nights at Blackwell.

Next, I headed to an art supply store. The walls were adorned with vibrant posters and prints, each one more eye-catching than the last. I took my time selecting a few posters that resonated with me—one of a serene forest, another of a starry night sky, and a vintage music festival poster. These would add a splash of color and personality to my otherwise bland room.

As I was about to leave, a small rack of potted plants caught my eye. I bent down to examine them, smiling at the variety of greenery. A tiny fern and a succulent seemed like the perfect companions for my desk. They were low-maintenance and would bring a bit of life into my space.

With my purchases in tow, I made my way to the two whales for a quick break. It was cozy  a friendly waitress who took my order with a smile. I sat by the window, sipping my coffee and watching the town's hustle and bustle. It was nice to feel a part of it, even if just for a moment.

Refreshed, I decided to take a scenic route back to Blackwell, walking along the beach. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was soothing, and I found myself lost in thought. The events of the past couple of days replayed in my mind, but now they felt less overwhelming. Meeting Chloe, making new friends, and slowly settling into this new life—it was starting to feel like things were falling into place.

Back at my dorm, I set to work unpacking my new items. I carefully hung the posters on the walls, the vibrant images immediately transforming the room. I placed the books on the shelf above my desk, their colorful spines adding a touch of warmth. The fern and the succulent found a home on the windowsill, where they could soak up the sunlight.

As I arranged everything, I felt a sense of satisfaction. My room was starting to feel like a reflection of me, a place where I could relax and feel comfortable. I took a step back, admiring the transformation.

As the evening settled in, casting long shadows across my newly decorated room, I lay back on my bed, feeling a mix of satisfaction and exhaustion. The day had been productive, and my room finally felt like a space I could call my own. The posters on the walls, the books on the shelf, and the small plants on the windowsill added a touch of warmth and familiarity.

I stared at the ceiling, letting my thoughts drift. Despite the progress, there was still an undercurrent of unease gnawing at me. I reached for my phone, hesitating for a moment before dialing my dad's number. The line rang a few times before he picked up.

"Hey, Dad," I greeted, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Y/N, how's it going?" His tone was neutral, but I could sense the underlying concern.
