Two Pelicans flew through the air to a small island on the ring. In the pelicans were two groups of marines each, but one of the pelicans were carrying two special people.
The Master Chief was checking his guns, making sure he had all the ammo he needed and making sure his weaponry was clean. He glanced over at the battle mage, who was...
"This sucks..." Ash mumbled as she stared at nothing in particular, blood leaking from her eyes. She had tried to enhance her vision with mana, and while it did work she used too much mana and burst a few blood vessels on accident.
The worst part about it was that it fell under the {Mana Enhancement} skill, so she didn't even get a new skill. But her {Mana Manipulation (Novice)} did go up a level, so at least it wasn't a complete waste of MP.
But the fact she could even damage herself by overcharging her body with mana was a problem she needed to tackle, especially since doing so mid combat could be lethal.

'Shut.'
Chat was cleanly split on being worried for Ash, laughing at the mage for the accidental self damage, and doing both at the same time.
In an attempt to ignore chat, the battle mage went through the system notifications she had silenced during her last mission.
Jackpot activating twice seemed to be the only interesting notification, but there was also an unexpected yet not unwelcome surprise hidden in the notifications.

[A/N: Probably not :)]
'Well, at least I've got this skill now.' Ash sighed as she began rubbing the blood off her face, feeling the sting behind her eyes finally go away.
"So, where are you from?" One of the marines decided to ask out of nowhere, causing silence throughout the Pelican.
"Hm?" Ash was a little surprised by the sudden question, quietly looking away while she considered how to answer it.
Trying to ignore the question wouldn't work, they would lose trust in her and she couldn't risk that. Saying she came from the Ring would crumble over time, once they learned more about it.
Along that train of thought, saying she even came from the Halo universe wouldn't work out since she didn't know enough to keep face. Eventually she would slip up, and they'd be right back to square one.
"... Would you believe me if I told you I'm not from this dimension?" Ash asked while looking back at the marine nervously.
"Fuck." The marine sighed deeply before looking at his buddy, who had a wide smile on his face.
