here you fools. so sorry i havent updated in a few days. wild week. enjoy, this was is so cute to me.
I was in y/c/o/c(your cabin of choice), looking over my weapons before setting them down. It had been a long training day, arguing with other camp members, and dealing with Mr. D's natural hate for half-bloods.
I was ready for bed. Honestly, the only adventure I wish I had was to get breakfast and back to my bunk.
With the night drawing near, I placed everything in its place and prepared for bed. Everyone else was sleeping, meaning I had the showers to myself before the Harpies would eat me for being past curfew.
The night was silent, yet noisy. To the night creatures audibly moving amongst the trees, to the frogs and odd sounding crickets.
If you think public womans showers are clean...they aren't. There was hair all over, dirty towels, some type of mold. It was disgusting, and crazy that staff wouldn't think of trying to clean it.
After grudgently showering, I headed out as quickly as I could. It was really quiet now, and no one seemed to be awake. As I neared towards my cabin, I heard a sniffle, coming from beyond the trees. Near the river of Camp.
It was either a creature, a person, or I was just hearing things. I sat my things down, and began to walk towards the sound. As I got closer, it almost sounded like crying.
I pushed past the branches, and the leaves, until I was standing in the sand.
It was beautiful tonight. The water seemed so still, the moon was like it was falling into the earth. In the distance, a whale shot water from its blowhole. A sight to see indeed.
Thats when I heard the sniffle again, but from above, making me jump.
"What are you doing awake?" A boy said, sitting on a tree-branch.
I focussed my eyes, and realized it was no other than Percy. He was new. Just a kid. Clar and other half-bloods had really been giving him a hard time. I felt bad for the guy.
"You're Percy, right? The new boy. Poseidons son."
He nodded. "Are you here to tease me? Beat me up like the others? If so, please wait till morning. I just want one moment to myself."
I smiled. "I'm not here to hurt you. I just heard someone crying-"
"I'm not crying. I have allergies." He spat.
"Can I come up?"
After a few seconds he nodded.
The view was great from where he was. I was shocked he found a spot like that. He still seemed pretty down. I had heard about his mom, and I wasn't going to be one to press into ones buisiness. Sometimes people just need good company.
We sat there, silent, and just taking in the breeze.
"The moon...What do you think of it?" He asked suddenly, looking at me with swollen blue eyes.
"I think it's a beautiful goregous rock. Who gets its time to shine at night."
He nodded.
"Why do you like the night so much?" I asked.
"You can tell?"
I nodded.
Percy looked to the beyond and closed his eyes. Breathing in deeply. "How could I not be in love with the night? It never asked anything from me, but my company..."
I shiver went down my spine. It did feel that way. Us half-bloods were asked of so much. Our lives were deemed as useless. Heros, born with a tragic ending. A horrible fate. Many of us will die young, with no fufillment. And a parent to disapoint.
Yet the night was just there. Silent and dark.
"I get it...I do. Y'know, the moon taught me there is beauty in darkness too, that even when I dont feel whole, I am enough...." I felt myself getting teary.
"This life we have y/n, it's our burden to bear, and it forever will be. But we can make it matter. We can make it beautiful."
I smiled at him, wiping a tear that made its way down my cheek, and shocked he knew my name, but not surprised by it.
There was a comfortable, resting silence as we both looked into the abyss.
"Yeah, lets make it beautiful Percy. You and I."
And we sat there for a bit longer, enjoying the moons company.
