Abigail POV

Today I m going over to Olis house to watch some movies. I decide to visit mum before I go to also catch her up one what's going on in my life. I see Nicks car and get in.
" Hey Abby, have a good day?"
" Yea I wanna go over to see mum before I go to Oliver's"
" Alright" Nick says with a slight chuckle
" What's funny? I ask genuinely confused
" It's just you and Oliver spend a lot of time together but swear you don't like each other"
" We are just friends Nick. I would never date him I've known him since I was like 6, it would just be weird."
" Whatever you say"

Nick parks the car and we head towards mums room. I'm still so focused on what nick was saying in the car. Am I sending signals to Oliver that I like him? I wouldn't want to since I don't think right now is a good time for a relationship and wouldn't want to end up hurting oli. We get into the elevator and head up. We step out and walk down the hallway. Whenever we walk down here I always focus on the walls. The walls are covered with birds flying high, with words saying " You will soar again." I think about this a lot hoping it will apply to mum and one day she will soar again.

"Hey Mum"
" Oh hello darling I didn't know you were coming right now. I would have at least combed my hair"
" You look beautiful Mum" Nick says leaning over the bar of the hospital bed giving mum a kiss.
" Oh thank you Nicky, anyways what are you doing here so early. You normally don't come til around 5?"
" She has plans tonight" Nick says with a smirk
Mum looks over to me with a surprised/ confused look on her face.
" Relax I'm just going to Oliver's" mum looks over at nick and they both let out a little laugh. I know what they're both thinking.
" Stop it Nicholas" I say while giving nick a slight shove
" My bad AbIgAiL" Nick says over emphasizing my name. He hates it when I call him Nicholas, so I do it as much as I can :).

I stay with mum just chatting until about 6 and then I have to leave so I can go get ready and be at Oliver's by 7. I get back to nick and Charlie's house and go upstairs and change. I pretty much live there now since I have a bunch of my stuff there and even Nellie lives there. I retouch my Make-up at my desk with my hand held mirror.I hear a knock at the door.
"Come in!" It's Charlie." Hey Charlie"
" Hey Abby, just seeing what you're doing."
" I'm just touching up my make up from school."
" Alrighty. So what are you and Oliver gonna do?"
" I think we are just gonna watch some movies and play some games, I'm not for sure"
" Oh ok. Well I'll be back in around 15 minutes so we can leave."
" Ok" Charlie leaves and closes the door, but not all the way so I hear Nick and Charlie talking.
" She just said they were gonna watch
Movies and play games" I can hear Charlie yelling Nick.
" That's what we would always do. Charlie if they are dating I want to know, but it just seems like she doesn't tell me anything anymore." I mean I guess I have gotten more distant with Nick but that doesn't mean he can just snoop around my life. I Finish getting ready and head downstairs acting like I heard nothing.
" Hey you ready to go?"
" Yea let's go, see ya later Nick" I say waving to nick
" Bye Abby, Bye Charlie" when he says bye to Charlie he winks at him and I can't tell what it means. I ignore it and get in the car. We drive to Oliver's house. We get there almost instantly considering we live 5 mins away. We park in the driveway and I unbuckle and get out of the car. I walk up to the door and Charlie follows behind me. I knock on the door and Oliver opens the door.
" Hey Abbs"
" Hey Oli" I give him a friendly hug and then he greets Charlie and gives him a hug.
" Alright I'll see you later Abby, do I need to pick you up?"
" Dad can take her home" Oliver answers
" Ok bye guys" Charlie turns around and heads towards the car.
" Alright let's go" Oliver says leading me upstairs

Oliver's POV

Me and Abby head upstairs and into my room. We sit on my bed and I put on a movie. I want to talk to her later since ever she was sick and gone for a week she has been acting different. She zones out a lot and is much more quiet which is very different. But also I'm not the best at talking with people about stuff. Like what if she's like Charlie and she's not doing well I don't know how to help her. When stuff was bad with Charlie I was young so no one really told me what was happening just that Charlie would be gone for a bit. So I'm not the best at communicating which I need to work on.

" Oli?" I look up and see Abby staring at me."are you alright you were just staring in the corner."
I take a deep breath and muster up the courage to finish my sentence.
" Abby I'm worried about you. Your gone for a week "sick" when you never get sick and ever since you got back your so quiet which you never are and I just want you to be able to talk to me if something's wrong." Abby stares at me blankly and looks like she's going to cry." please just tell me if something's up"  I'm scared to what's about to happen next but I need to stay strong in case something did happen.
" my uhm m- mum is in the hospital.." she mumbles
" she has a uhm brain tumor." At this point I don't know what to do so I just hug Abby. I know Abby is very close to her mum. Abby also has this thing where she feels bad when bad things happen to nice people and I know she must feel horrible right now considering Sarah is one of the nicest people on the planet. As I hold Abby I can feel my shirt getting damp. I don't know what to do since I think this is the first time seeing her cry after all the time knowing her. I just hold  her extra tight.

" Oliver what the hell are you doing" I turn around and see mum staring in the door way looking like she's about to explode.
" Mum it's not what it looks like"
" NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE? DO YOU ONOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. IT LOOKS LIKE YOU BRING A GIRL INTO MY HOME AND LIE TO ME SAYING " SHES JUST A FRIEND". YOU KNOW I HATE LYING YET YOU STILL DID IT FOR WHAT? TO HOOK UP WITH SOME SLUT?"
I look at mum with angry in my eyes and I can tell she's drunk.
" You will pay Oliver Spring" Mum says this as she lifts up her hand. Just as I'm prepared to get hit I feel myself get pushed. I open my eyes and look at Abby who has her hand holding her check looking at mum in disbelief.
" So you want your little hooker to fight your battles huh? See if she can handle this"
Mum starts hitting and punching Abby. Abby is trying to fight back but isn't strong enough. As I watch in horror I can see mum hit Abby in the head and Abby looks like she's gonna get knocked out. I can't watch anymore. I kick mum in the stomach and she falls over. I grab my phone and Abby's hand and run out the door. We start running until we are far from the house. Abby's arm is around me and I'm helping her walk.
" I'm so sorry Abby you shouldn't have to take my hits"
" well you shouldn't be getting hit. "
" well now your hurt and it's all my fault"
" I'm fine I swear." I look at her and can see she has a big knot on her head, a black eye, and dried up blood around her nose.
" Hey Oli"
" Yes"
" Is there a bench near by my head is pounding and I don't feel good."
"Let me see" I take my eyes of Abby for maybe one second and I can feel Abby slipping. She falls to the ground.
